John lives in Los Angeles with his third wife (actress Laurette Spang), and they have three children (son Jake; daughters Rebecca and Molly). His second wife, dancer-actress Juliet Prowse, is the mother of his eldest son (Seth).
His career is like a one-man history of TV! Since his debut on a 1964 episode of "No Time for Sergeants," John has appeared on dozens of TV shows: "Newhart," "Moonlighting," "L.A. Law," "Murder, She Wrote," and "Dynasty," for openers. A longtime star of the stage, his theatrical credits are just as impressive.
John's breakthrough came when he joined "The Young and the Restless," playing heartbreaker Lance Prentice from 1975 to 1980. He's been there since the beginning of "The Bold and the Beautiful," so it's fitting that John's portrayal of conflicted family man Eric Forrester has anchored the show.
John recorded a 1993 album titled "John McCook Sings Bold and Beautiful Love Songs." It was a chart success in several European countries.
