"Southern Belles: Louisville": Thursday, July 2

Southern BellesRecap by Anika Kohon

In a Word: Shea wedding shops, Hadley goes on a date with Russ, and Julie is let down again.

The Action: Jeff, Kellie’s guy from Chicago, helps her simplify her life, encouraging her to clean out her closet. She’s reluctant to let a lot of her things go and suggests they clean out the older stuff in the basement instead.

Kellie brings a tarot card reader to dinner with the girls. Julie and Shea both receive favorable readings, but the reader gives Hadley a warning about getting too close to Russ. Kellie receives a worrisome reading about the possibility of having a baby.

Emily returns to Las Vegas to shoot some more segments for the website. She worries about doing a good job on her next assignment because she’s feeling like her last story wasn’t great.

Shea brings Hadley and Kellie with her as she buys items for her wedding. Hadley can’t believe how much money she is spending and thinks Jeff is probably feeling overwhelmed by the scale of the affair.

Hadley grabs a beer with Russ, and she tells him about the tarot card reading. The sexual tension is positively palpable as she describes what the woman told her. There’s a long pause and then she tells him she wants to get a dog. Russ loves the idea, so she takes him to the pet store to look at a puppy. She rather impulsively buys the puppy (and a cute little red sweater for him). Russ says he’s going to be the dog’s daddy, but Hadley is quick to clarify that he will be “Uncle Russ.”

Julie and Cody go to a salsa dancing class and have a great time. He’s a better dancer than she expected and they move well together. They seem to have a great rapport, and it seems like they’re getting along well.

Hadley and Russ go into one of her favorite stores and she finds a dress she likes. He flirtatiously tells her to stop trying to make him into a gay friend. He then asks her to go out on a real date with him. After her initial panic, she agrees to it.

Emily’s car show segment goes much better than her last segment, and she is relieved. It seems like she may be hitting her stride in Vegas.

Kellie and Julie take Bubbles to the park and they discuss Kellie’s fertility issues as well as her miscarriage four years ago. She invites Julie to come with her to the fertility specialist.

Hadley accompanies Shea to a high-end boutique, and watches Shea spend money on designer couture. She talks Shea into accompanying her to a thrift store where Shea fails to find anything she likes.

Kellie opens up to Jeff about her decision to have a baby. He doesn’t want to have one with her because he already has a son. She’s feeling pressure to decide between a baby or Jeff, but he says she needs to find out if she can even have a baby before she needs to worry about making that kind of decision.

Julie is getting ready for her date when Cody calls to cancel. He tells her he doesn’t know when he will be able reschedule. Julie is understandably disappointed.

Kellie makes an appointment to see a fertility specialist to see if it’s going to be possible to have a baby.

Russ and Hadley are both nervous for their date. While they’re having drinks he admits he thinks he’s in love with her, and this confession completely takes her by surprise. Hadley is all smiles after their date, though, and is clearly smitten. (All we have to say to that is, “Uh oh!”)

Our Take: Poor Julie! Getting canceled on last-minute when you thought things were going well is so disappointing!

Your Take: Do you think Hadley and Russ would make a perfect couple or are they headed for disaster?

I think that Hadley needs to learn how to trust and open up her heart and life to a guy and since Russ has been a good friend ther all these years the transistion might be easier on her and it might work out.
