Occupation: Police Chief
Motivation: Under Mallet's white hat is a dark past.
Lawman Mallet blew into Springfield for an undercover operation. But when the place grew on him, he stuck around to teach the Springfield P.D.'s new recruits. Soon enough, he was butting heads with tough-girl cadet Harley Cooper. Then, their animosity turned to passion. They became partners, on and off the force, and kicked some serious criminal butt together. Eventually, the supercouple married and rode off into the sunset.
Only their happily ever after didn't last. (How many do?) Mallet cheated on Harley, and she returned to town alone. Years later, she was wrongly imprisoned for murder. In the pokey, she came face to face with the jail's new warden -- Mallet! When she was going to be transferred to the scary "Hell House" facility, he risked his life to protect her. During a standoff, the two worked out their past, and Harley forgave him. Later, Harley was cleared of all charges, and they became friends.
Mallet moved on to reform bad girl Dinah Marler. (Well, as much as she can be reformed.) They fell in love, but she had trust issues and kept testing their relationship. After they married, Mallet confessed his shady dealings with a loan shark who was now blackmailing him. Dinah ended up getting shot and suffered brain damage. Mallet wanted to help, but she pushed him away. The two divorced, but their feelings for each other never changed.
Or at least they hadn't until he met rookie cop Marina Cooper, Harley's niece. Mallet's history couldn't be about to repeat itself, could it?
Our Take: Mallet's a good guy trying to make up for some bad moves.
Your Take: Saint or sinner -- will the real Mallet please stand up?
