The name Hillary Wilson has been thrown around Pine Valley a lot recently. First Damon (Finn Wittrock) mentioned his mom's name is Hillary. Then Tad (Michael E. Knight) and Liza (Jamie Luner) reminisced about their teenage antics, and Tad's former love Hillary Wilson came up. Sure enough, Tad learns that Damon's mom and his ex-wife are one and the same. Hillary (played by Carmen Thomas from 1984 to 1988) hasn't been seen or heard from in Pine Valley for two decades (not to mention five weddings later for Tad). So for those of you unfamiliar with the character, here's a quick primer on what you need to know about Hillary and Tad:

In 1984, Hillary Wilson arrived in town to be with her father, Langley Wallingford. Langley was married to snooty society matron Phoebe (aka the Feebs). At the time, Tad "The Cad" was dating Dottie Thornton -- only because her mother, Edna, was secretly paying him to do so! But when Tad laid eyes on Hillary, he gave up the charade. Desperate to hold onto Tad, Dottie tossed her birth control pills away, got pregnant, and pressured Tad into marriage. Hillary, being the noble girl she was, convinced Tad to do what was right and marry Dottie.

Well, after the ring was on Dottie's finger, she miscarried -- and of course kept the truth from Tad. During Tad and Dottie's unhappy state of matrimony, Hillary fell for Bob Georgia, who was suffering from a terminal illness. Once again Hillary did the right thing and married Bob so he could live out his final days in happiness. When Hillary found out that her husband's illness had gone into remission, she filed for divorce. Finally she was free to marry Tad!

But their marriage came crashing down when the new Mrs. Martin discovered Tad had known all about a con artist's plan to swindle Phoebe's fortune. With his marriage over and his life in ruins, Tad packed his bags and left Pine Valley. Hillary hung around for a few more years before moving to Boston, hopeful for a future with Mitch Beck.

Now the question looms -- if Hillary is Damon's mother, who is his father? Umm ...
