The Hills may be alive with the sounds of Lauren and Heidi talking about how they're not friends anymore, but soon enough, cast member Whitney Port might not be able to hear them. That's because she's headed for "The City"! New York City, natch. That'll be the title and setting of Whitney's spinoff show, which MTV has confirmed will air in early 2009.

Check out what MTV's press release says is in store for Lauren's former sidekick and leading-question-asker: "With a great new job at global design house, Diane Von Furstenberg, a best friend from her past and a guy she's head-over-heels for, Whitney is taking a huge chance at a brand new life."

New life! Head-over-heels for a guy! Diane von Furstenberg! Not only will Whitney give us our "Hills" fix during the off-season, but it sounds like she'll also help us deal with the New York fashion withdrawal that's bound to happen when "Project Runway" heads off to L.A.!

Oh, and BTdubs, how funny is it that Whit's new show shares a name with a departed ABC soap? We can't be the only ones who remember "The City" from the mid-'90s. Morgan Fairchild, people! Debbi Morgan and Jane Elliot as Angie Hubbard and Tracy Quartermaine! Catherine Hickland (Lindsay on "One Life to Live") and Lisa LoCicero (Olivia on "General Hospital")! Wow, daytime these days is teeming with "The City" alums.
