So the idea of a show called "The City" is getting a lot of buzz right now, because America's favorite mover-of-clothes-from-one-rack-to-another, Whitney "How was your weekend?" Port is getting a "Hills" spin-off of that name. It follows her trials and tribulations trying to make it in the Big Apple. But dedicated soap fans like us (okay, maybe only me), remember that there was a little gem that ran from 1995-1997 with the name "The City." In our (my) mind, it is the only show worthy of that title.
The show was a spin-off (of sorts) of the long-running show "Loving." After a serial killer killed most of Corinth, PA (read: All the old people that had been on for years), all the younger faces moved to New York City to live in a loft with Morgan Fairchild. Originally the show was going to be called "LOV NYC" but everyone realized that was way too bizarre, so they named it "The City" instead.
