America's favorite Union, the Writers Guild of America, just announced their nominations honoring writers from across the TV and Movie spectrum. A bunch of SOAPnet favorites are up for awards. The big news as far as we're concerned is that they selected "One Life to Live" and "As the World Turns" for best writing for daytime serials.
Hats off to the talented writing teams of both these shows. Luke and Noah have been the hot, buzzed-about couple on "As the World Turns," while "One Life to Live" has been busy tracking the various alternate personalities of Jessica and Viki. In fact, "OLTL" submitted very Viki-centric episodes to get the nomination: The first of the 40th anniversary celebration (where Viki goes to Heaven), as well as Viki's recent freak out in the mausoleum. Rounding out the episodes that got them the nod is when Rex appeared in the "Who Wants to be Shane Morasco's Father?" fantasy game show. In addition to this accolade, the writers of "One Life to Live" recently won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Daytime Drama.
A few of our other favorite shows were also nominated. "Lost," "Friday Night Lights" and "Mad Men" are up for best drama along with "The Wire" and "Dexter."
