In news that thrills us (because we love her) and depresses us (because it means her schedule is busier, making a return to "General Hospital" more difficult), Vanessa Marcil -- a.k.a. Brenda Barrett from "GH" -- got a new job! She'll be hosting a show called "Blush: The Search for the Next Great Make-Up Artist," debuting November 11 on Lifetime.

The premise has contestants competing for a Max Factor contract, a cool $100,000, and the opportunity to do the makeup for an InStyle magazine photo shoot. The judges include InStyle fashion director Hal Rubenstein and industry makeup artist Joanna Schlip, with noted makeup artist Charlie Green providing some Tim Gunn-style mentoring. Expect challenges, lots of eyeliner, and plenty of drama -- because everyone will be living under one roof! BTW, how amazing would it be if one of the challenges was to see who could apply mascara fastest to someone having a typical reality show crying meltdown? Actually, they should do that on "America's Next Top Model"; with all the tears on that show, it looks like people have permanent black eyes ...
