I spoke with [head writer] Maria Arena Bell about this early on, before the storyline started playing out, and she and I both were on the same page that in order for this story truly to work, whatever end the story has, he has to truly, truly be in love with her. Because if he's manipulating her in any way, or it's a ruse, then I think he is about as cruel as a human being can be (if you would even classify someone that cruel as a human being).
Initially he took an interest in her because he saw such a bright light in her -- someone who had gone through something so tragic, and of course, he felt so guilty. He wasn't hanging around her to protect himself or to cover his tracks or to monitor her ... that makes no sense. The best thing to do -- there's no witnesses, there's nobody who knows anything -- just get out of dodge. But he put himself in harm's way because he was so intrigued by her and so drawn to her. And there's a strong correlation to [Adam's mother] Hope: someone who's a very good mother, who's very passive, sweet, understanding, kind, and forgiving -- but also a very strong person underneath it all. He sees the strength in Sharon.
It's funny to hear people say: 'Oh, they got married after a month.' I don't understand when people started looking at their calendars, but they had been talking and having wine and opening up to one another one-on-one a month before Halloween came around. And then there was a significant amount of build-up in the relationship to Thanksgiving, and then, of course, to Christmas. Over the months, he has done the one thing that I think he feels he would never fall victim to, and that's give in to his emotion. He's fallen deeply in love with her.
He has found that there's a by-product to this -- that it gets under Nick's skin and Jack's skin, to say the very least. There's a bonus there, but that's certainly not the reason to be with her. If that was his motive, he could have easily, in my opinion, just continued to date her, and it would have infuriated everyone. But to get married takes it to a level where it's just not a game anymore. Like he said on New Year's Eve when he and Sharon were laying in the hospital bed -- he loves her enough for the both of them. He understands and embraces the fact that she has a past, and a history with Nick, but he believes he can be a part of her future. I think he's not delusional to believe that, because after all, they're married now!
When you play that he truly is in love with her, then you heighten all the emotions, you raise all the stakes. Because now the things he did to her before he really knew her become so painful to him. And he can be so guilt-ridden, but what do you do? Do you put the baby back in her arms, but then you lose everything? She built up her strength, she's a strong person now, and he's madly in love, and they have this wonderful life together ... does that all go away?"

The actor Michael Muhney is a very good actor, but his character Adam, has no heart, his character has nothing to make him human,he does'nt seem to know how to love any one.His hatred was at first towards VICTOR the dad who was not there,so everyone in his path becomes collateral damage?arderyd;ADAM does not have a genuine bone in his body, you better watch out if you are beginning to love Adam,I thought he was supposed to be blind by now!
You had better get Adam and Sharon and that redicilous plot off the show or you will lose another viewer. How stupied do you think the viewers are. For storyline like this is the same reason why I stopped watching Days of Our Lives. I was a died hard viewer of Days of our Livess until they had a story line with Marlana throwing up green stuff and I haven't turn my channel to watch Days since that and that's exactly what is going to happen to Young in the Restless if you don't stop the madness.
Adam redeeming qualities? When he gives birth to a baby for Ashley, confesses to Sharon & returns Faith to Sharon where she belongs. The BadBoy,ruthless character brought to life by Mr.Braden will never be achieved by ADAM.Ms.Thomas'cameo during the holidays only served to confuse.A soap opera of the caliber we who are veteran viewers of this soap have enjoyed for years,i am 62y.TEASE not Torture is the key to devoted viewers,Rest assured WRITERS,we are not stupid.Bringing in younger actors who are being paid less, than the stars who made us,cry, laugh &get angry with each episode,Ah those were the days!!!!!
I'm loving Adam. Give me a complicated mutli-faceted villain over a cookie cutter villain any day. And I do think Adam's feelings for Sharon are genuine, I think they took him by surprise and he's still figuring it out, but I think he does love her. And if he loves her, then the harder it's going to be for him to fess up, he'd be too scared to loose everything good in his life. Michael Muhney's doing a great job, and here's hoping the writers and producers are planning on keeping him around, and keeping his character interesting for a long while.
I cannot stand this character and I'm not buying the load of bull that the actor is selling. He's no more in love with Sharon than he was with Heather. I can honestly say that after 35 years of continual viewing I have not watched this show for a full hour since the 1st day that Adam sat down in Sharon's living room. Enough is enough...get rid of this character!
I think the writers of The Young and Restless had better wake up before it looses all of the fans. Thye must think everyone is stupid. the story line about Sharon and Faith is ridiculious a baby bonds with its mother in its first weeks of life WAKE UP It has went on long enough.
WELL Y&R YOU DID IT AGAIN YOU HAVE PUT ANOTHER STAR IN ADAM CAP NOW HE IS THE HERO IN GC I GUESS EVERYONE WILL RALLY AROUND HIM FOR SAVING EDEN,NICRJR AND THE DOG.WHAT A BRAVE THING A BLIND MAN DID RINNING UP STAIRS AND CARRYING EDEN TO SAFTY AND THEN RUNNING BACK IN THE SMOKE FILL HOUSE AND RESCUREING THE DOG WHOA KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK BECAUSE I AM CONVINCE YOU ALL ARE GOING TO KEEP HIM AROUND AS LONG AS WE COMPLAIN ABOUT GETTING RIDE OF HIM.AS FOR SHARON SHE SEEM TO HAPPY WITH ADAM MAY BE ONE DAY THERE WILL BE AN END TO ADAM AND HE WILL GET WHAT HE DESERVE.
My Take on Adam is...all he ever wanted was to feel accepted by Victor as well as Victoria and Nicolas. When that didn't happen he started with he " I'll show you additude" showing how insecure he really is concerning the family, this turned into a chain of events that snow balled, (not to say that Adam didn't do wrong, he did.) but he didn't really want Ashly to loose her baby when she fell down the stairs after he was haunting her with Sabrinas ghost.
But now that he has found "true love " with Sharon we'll see ....so far I think he is ginuin about his feelings for her.
Parts of me likes Adam with Sharon, but will not be able to forgive his heinous act of switching her baby with Ashley's deceased one!! And what's the deal with his blindness? I just can't understand that one!
