SOAPnet Interviews "Evil Adam"
You guys won't believe it. We talked to Michael Muhney, aka Adam Newman, last week -- and in just 30 minutes, he made us believe we were pregnant, Sabrina was alive, and he wasn't behind the SEC inquiry into Newman. Then he rescued four puppies from a towering inferno.
Seriously. He's that good.
Once we snapped out of it, we were able to ask the 34-year-old Young and the Restless star about everything from playing the villain to how Adam really feels about Sharon. Keep reading to see why he says things on Y&R are just getting "crazier and crazier" -- and come back tomorrow for Part 2!
What's it like playing the villain?
"Playing the antagonist on a show where the title character was so beloved [Veronica Mars], I was hated by many. But over the course of a few years, it was interesting -- people kind of came around. They started cheering for the bad guy. So when I got the opportunity to play a character like Adam, as far as I was concerned, he had protagonistic aspects and antagonistic, and I figured that I would just embrace both. If there were some livid reactions, I figured: better a big reaction than no reaction at all."
How has the fan reaction been?
"You know, everyone who runs into me in the street or the grocery store, the gym, the airport -- which seems to be quite often now, I'm very surprised at the exposure the show has -- every single person has said: 'I think I might be the only one, but I love you with Sharon, and I want to hate you, but I don't.' And I'll tell them they're not the only one, or from time to time I'll joke with them and say: 'You're sick. Why are you rooting for the bad guy?'
I've been able to sample different slices of demographics -- those who peruse the Internet, those who are casual viewers, those who are die-hard but aren't online, critics, of course, cast members -- it's interesting to see everyone's take on this character. But I can tell you that at the end of the day, it's just fun going into work knowing that I'm going to be playing a part like this."

I do believe that the mystery woman is sheila and i can't wait until adam gets what is coming to him i am just fed up with his evil ways.
I had a feeling that Phyllis was Sheila. I could tell by the way she told Lauren to say that "Sheila is dead" and when Sheila is talked about Phyllis acts different and suspicious.
Sheila's Back with demonic Children lol. Adam & Sharon want a pair, they deserve each other. Niki hair is awful plus she is too fat. Kudos to the New Malcolm...
i read some where that phyliss is really shelia and that its suposed to start showing that this spring i hope not it will be a worse storyline than adam s and i dint think there could be any thing worse that the writers crap about ashley having ababy with no after birth effects nothing no milk no pain she got up and ran a foot race allover townand nevered wondered why she had no milk to nurse baby hope plus all adamsbull its too toooooooo much

The writers must not 4get that when the newman jet was going down, adam wrote that sharon's baby was alive,, now she has amnesia and doesn't remember it..maybe she will on one of Friday's cliffhanger!! Daisy and Ryder must be Sheila's kids.. Y would they constantly involve themselves around Lauren & Michael.. Since Victor is back, he will be cleaning house! I wonder if he would ever go visit Patty, since he is just a responsible for putting a fragile, unstable woman in that place with the help of Jack, of course..Billy may crack the case with Adam since he is interviewing the people that hate Adam, Oh yeah, don't 4get that Billy seen adam @ the funeral home that day sharon baby died.. Billy need to go back to the funeral home and start asking the staff there also.. What about the Dr. who died, Dr. Taylor, what if he wrote a letter and mailed to sharon ashley or something bec he knew that adam would harm him? just an idea.. i guess we have to continue to watch.. Hope the Y & R writers r viewing these comments and take some of them n2 consideration :))
I look forward to Adam being exposed and the fall out, after all it is a soap opera!!! I don't really like Nikki's new hair color.
I can't wait until Adam is exposed for the creep he really is. Wait until Shelia returns. Maybe she will hook up with Adam. They're 2 of a kind. Shelia is Daisy & Ryder's mother. Chip off the old block. watch & see.
So glad Victor is back...this should be real good. I'm tired of the baby thing too...I like Phyllis's insecurity, that's what makes her Phyllis & she does stupid things.
Please end this Adam saga and get rid of him I am so sick and tired and Adam. I'm even sick of Sharon. I don't care what happens to Sharon. If she leaves the program, I will be so happy
