We can't help it -- we love Adam Newman. Not to mention the actor behind this conflicted and layered character, Michael Muhney. Yesterday, we shared his thoughts on just what is up with Adam and Sharon. Today we have Michael's answers to who else he'd love to work with, what he thinks about having Eric Braeden back, and who the funniest person on set is (you'll be surprised)!
What other characters would you like to see Adam interact with?
"I only let myself daydream about this ever-so-slightly, because I embrace the storyline that I am in at any given moment [i.e., Sharon/Adam/Ashley]. I certainly have enjoyed the Nick and Adam dynamic -- this sort of King Learish battle between the two brothers for their father's affection, approval, and perhaps even his throne -- I've really started investing myself in that. I think that there's also a lot of electricity, potential fireworks between the Adam and Billy characters, and where those two can go with certain things. I am really ecstatic that Eric [Braeden] is back, because the Adam and Victor stuff is phenomenal, and there's a lot of pain, a lot of longing in that dynamic. Peter Bergman is another -- I'd like to see Adam really taking another swing at Jack, perhaps, in a big way.
I guess I could go down the line! You know whose screen presence I really enjoy and I would love to go toe-to-toe with is the Neil character. I've found that the scenes I've shot with Michelle [Stafford] were phenomenal, I would love to explore some stuff there. So that's at least half a dozen right there off the top of my head that, to me, could be explosive -- if I invested in a new storyline.
I think that Maria kind of has those things in the back of her mind for all the characters -- 'When this storyline is over, where do I drive this character, what direction do I take them?' And I think the fun thing about the Adam character is that if you take him out of this storyline and put him somewhere else, there's new explosives. The stakes can be just as high somewhere else. At least from my biased perspective, I think that Adam has a lot of potential with a lot of characters, so there's kind of an endless amount of story that you can tell with this character."

How do I say great acting without commenting on the fact that I want Faith back with Sharon and Nick........I love the fact that they finally gave Sharon someone she could move on with like Adam's character for me he is the male Phyllis...He twist things around and has Sharon supporting him no matter what just like Nick does with Phyllis....I feel like Sharon knows as much about the real Adam as Nick does the real Phyllis and if they can redeem Phyllis then Adam is a walk in the park...........Sharon and Adam could be a supercouple but he has to find a way to give her Faith back.....I want to see Nick watch Sharon truly get invested in someone else besides him just like he did with Phyllis and have to work to win her back..........Sharon's marriage with Jack was a joke to me he was like her father or her uncle.........but Nick has a fight on his hands with Adam and I just love it...........
YES ADAM IS A GREAT ACTOR, BUT IN REAL LIKE THE SUPER BAD GUY THAT SHOULD GET CAUGHT WILL BE TRIED AND PUT IN PRISON! THE SOAP IS NOT MAKE BELIEVE, ALOT OF REALITY AND CRAZY THINGS HAPPEN IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, JUST READ AND HEAR THE NEWS DAILY!! ADAM SHOULD GO TO JAIL DO NOT PASS GO AND DO NOT COLLECT MILLOINS YOUR DAD HAS!!
THAT'S A WRAP FOR NOW BYE!!!!
I have watched the Young and the Restless since it started but
it is getting to where it upsets me so bad I don't even care if I
watch it anymore. I am beginning to wonder if they think all of
us viewers are stupid. This deal with Adam taking Sharon's
baby and then having it cremated without her or Nicks permission that would never happen in real life. I am so sick of
everything that Adam has done and he always gets away with it. The worst was taking Sharon and Nicks baby, and then Sharon marrying him. If Sharon and Nick don't find out about the baby I am going to quit watching this soap, and if Nick doesn't find out soon that Summer is Jacks, this all needs to come out. There is plenty of other things that can make this show interesting to watch other than this kind of stuff. I have had it with Adam. If you want to stay on I would suggest that some things come out in the open.
I was a long time viewer of Y&R for many years. I even taped it when I went back to Work. I have been a happy returned viewer pretty much but the writers stretch our intelligence sometimes; like Ashley having a baby without any of the naturatl things that occur when someone has a baby, ie blood, doctor's visits, ets. Also they leave too many unfinished storylines like Phyliss running down Paul and Christine and not getting caught. I sure hope Sharon's baby is not in college when they discover she is not Ashley's child. I also think that they could leave at least one or two characters clean....not making Sharon the Genoa City slut!!! Nick is a wuss where Phyllis is concerned. He has no sense. Adam's character is smarter than he and he can't handle it. But I despise Adam's character. Get rid of him or put him in jail and let him get clean in there. after all his mother was a nice lady.
I was a long time viewer of Y&R for many years. I even taped it when I went back to work. About 20 yrs ago I stopped watching because it all seemed so same-o same-o. But last year in November I was in Dr. office and saw the stroyline with Katherine and Marge and I was hooked again. So far I have enjoyed being a returned viewer of the soap but whoever saw someone have a baby and not know that they didnt have one, no blood, no obvious things. The writers are stretching that too far. Ashley has not even seen a doctor since she supposedly had the baby. It is time for Adam to get his due and move on. I also agree that the writers leave too many unsolved storylines for us viewers who know what went on in the past; like Phyllis running down Paul and Christine and never being held accountable for it. Now Phyllis comes off like a law-abiding citizen. I an beginning to think that she is Sheila.
Enjoyed reading Michael's interview and like some others, I am not loving his "evil" character, but would say he plays the part very well. I also am someone who quit watching every other soap that I used to watch, but have kept up with Y&R, I like when they redeem a character, because you never know when the "real" one might be back, as in Victor, Phyllis, Jill. . . I say keep Adam on, but please do give Sharon her baby back and it shall be interesting how Adam might be reincarnated as something of a lesser villian. . . what redeemed him to me, was saving the doggie (lol). . . last, but not least, it is always nice to know that those people behind the characters are really a great bunch, though I do believe it shows in the success of the show and the many who have been on the show for many years. . .
Tinyt6675 & coats.crystal, I couldn't agree with anyone any more!!!! IT IS TIME!!! I am sure that the writers will find SOME way for his evil behind to get out of most it, though!!! Makes me sick!! I still think that Phyllis needs to get hers too!!
the adam storyline is getting old but so is the act that these children are not with their real parents (Summer/Jack) & (Sharon/Faith). Put Sharon back with Nick and their baby put Phyllis back with Jack and their baby. Let someone kill Adam and leave it a mystery.
I don't want to see him interact with nobody else. I would love for his supposedly blind behind would get off the show!!!!
I actually am one of the first to complain about Michael's character, Adam. But he has grown on me and I think he's a great actor! I find myself rooting for Evil Adam that he mends his ways. He's a conflicted character that is unable to mend his ways completely. I hope they keep him around a long time. You guys forget why we're addicted to Y&R!! Can't have good without evil and if everyone was good like Lily, Mac and JT, wouldn't it make for boring?
