General Hospital's Kelly Monaco and Dominic Zamprogna prepare for the fantastic day ahead ...

You guys ... we had an absolute BLAST this past Saturday at the Soap Nation/iParticipate volunteer events held in Los Angeles and New York City (and yes, we can be in two places at once! It's pretty cool). Not only did fans of General Hospital, All My Children, and One Life to Live get to hang out with some of their favorite stars, but also -- and most importantly -- everyone rallied together to beautify two very deserving schools with the help of CityYear, the country-wide non-profit organization dedicated to helping students and schools succeed.

To think that AMC's Thorsten Kaye was painting on one coast while GH's Brandon Barash and Lisa LoCicero were painting on another ... well, it blew our minds a little. We especially liked watching GH's Carolyn Hennessy and Jane Elliot participate in CityYear's uber-peppy morning warm-up. Maybe they should have Port Charles pep rallies!

Anyhoo, we've put together a gallery of some of the best moments from this weekend's events. Take a look at all the fun we had!

Did you hang with us last Saturday? Have as fabulous a time as we did? Let us know in the comments below!

Vet. Day Weekend was a beautiful weekend in Orlando, FL. The sun was shining, with light winds and low humidity and nice temps, the perfect weekend weather wise in FL. Why was I not in Orlando (specifically Walt Disney World)? Simple, there were not any Soap Opera Stars there to meet so there was no reason to go. My family of 3 are all very sad that FL was neglected from Soap Nation and that SSW did not happen. However, as we are all sad, our bank accout is happily gaining interest on the $500 we would have spent at WDW over the course of the weekend (on food, WDW hotel, tickets, exc.)!

It's the most WONDERFUL time of the year (for soap fans that is)! Time to grab some clothes and our schedules and head to WDW for SSW! It's the most wonderful time of the ye... OH that's right, that scrooge in charge at ABC daytime has canceled the BEST fan event that there has ever been or will ever be! When the fans said that one weekend was not enough, they meant add other events and still have SSW, not cancel the one thing that soooo many fans and soap stars look forward to going to every year! I think it was a good idea to do the charity events that you had this year (please keep them next year as they bring attention to causes that might have gone unnoticed), but the other events were stupid. Either they cost more than admission to WDW and had the star power that we want to see, or they were cheap but only had a few stars there from each soap and was pointless (and HOT, much too hot outside) to attend. At the end of A Christmas Carol Scrooge does the right thing and we all hope that at the end of this year you to will do the right thing and reinstate SSW at WDW in 2010! Thank you.

A big thank you to everyone who participated. My daughter is an Americorp member in City Year NYC. She drew the mural that some of you worked on - and she greeted the stars in the green room. When she called to tell me, I think I was more excited than she was (hard to imagine - she was really excited!) Soaps keep us connected even though she's a couple thousand miles from home. We text about shows every week. Thanks ABC and SoapNet!
