Do you like working with Brett Claywell?
Oh, he is awesome. We're always joking and talking outstide of work. He's a real professional. Whenever we're doing rehearsals before we shoot ... between the way it's written and working with him, the scenes become really conversational.
The fan response to the has been pretty profound -- from a lot of different corners. What kind of response have you gotten?
I've gotten some really nice letters that are from people that are not out of the closet ... just writing saying the story is doing good things for them. If I get one of those letters or a hundred of those, the story is touching someone and that's all that matters.
It makes you realize the impact of the genre.
Definitely. And the writing of it is ... they're doing a phenomenal job with it. It's very easy to take a topic like this and be disrespectful with it. And just be like "Look, two gay characters ... now they are together." It's slow and real to life. Which is refreshing.
Are you getting recognized on the street more?
Lately, it's been happening. It's funny -- a couple times this week, people have been like "I'm so excited for Thursday [the kiss].' I'm like "Me too!"
You guys taped that a while ago.
Yes, a month and a half ago! So in the moment [people say that], I'm trying to remember what that was like [to tape it].
