I am deeply disappointed with the cancellations of AMC, and OLTL. How can ABC do that, like we need another cooking show or a feel better show. These shows are what make people feel better. I have been watching them since I was a teenager, now in my 50's and enjoy them very much. Please ABC reconsider all those actors out of a job what are you thinking in today's economy. We have all the cooking shows on the cooking networks, we have the feel better shows with Dr. Phil, Dr. OZ, Oprah and so on we don't need more of those. I want to sign a petition how do we do that. Lets help these shows stay on the air. Anyone have an idea, can we make a difference by complaining, will they see these?
OLTL is the only soap I watch. I started when I was 15 (I'm now 42) and my grandmother moved in with us and got me hooked! I've often marveled at how one show could be on the air so long and, yet, I continue to watch because it's just so enjoyable to follow. I've always worked full-time, even finished grad school, but I faithfully taped (and now DVR) the show everyday. In fact, it's the ONLY show that I have my DVR set to automatically record. *Sigh* I often thought about when the day would come that I would no longer be able to watch the show because of life's interferences but....that day never came. I always made time for the show. I never thought I'd have to stop watching it because it would cease to be around. Funny...it's become such a staple. The actors are outstanding and the writing is compelling. If it can't be on daytime TV, then why can't SoapNet continue airing it at night? I am sure people would follow it to nighttime! Look at how distraught we all are! Ha ha. :)
I've been watching All My Children and One Life To Live before I could even understand what was really going on. To be exact, I was 5 yrs old when I fell in love with these 2 particular shows (I'm 35 this yr.) and to hear that they are going off of the air because the younger people do not watch them is heartbreaking. I actually think I need to take a bereavement day at work. If the writers would give me three months and access to be creative I could make both of those shows popular again.... If they are reading this, I'm serious! Until then... It's going to be fun having Roger returning to Llanview as Todd... I can't wait!
Like everyone else, I'm truly upset about the OLTL going off the air. I feel that the producers and writers should have had enough respect for it's viewers to at least take a poll to get our opinions on this. After so many years of watching, the way it was announced was hurtful ! Where's the appreciation for the viewers who watched faithfully? Is this their way of saying Thank U for your many years of dedication? If the decline in viewers were that drasctic, shouldn't that tell you to fire the writers ? Even when the story lines were bad, the faithful remained faithful watchers! ABC where's your loyalty?
I hope all the actors will find jobs.
I just cannot believe this is going to be happening. In this day and age, you can find all kinds of informative programs. Soaps are the way to escape from life for awhile. These are the only two daytime soaps our family watches. My dad has even became interested in them after he retired. My daughter just started watching them about 8 years ago. We even attended the Super Soap Weekends at Disney and were really upset when they stopped doing that. ABC please don't take our two favorite shows off. I would trade everything else I watch just to watch these two shows. In fact, I subscribe to Soap Opera Digest and they had said that this was all a rumor and nohing was going to happen. I am beyond made
I agree with everyone, we don't need another cooking show or life style show of any kind. You can click on just about any channel and you will see one of these.
I watched AMC and OLTL every since I was a little girl with my mother and my daughters have watched them every since they were born. This is something that brought mothers and daughters together. And after a hard days work you know your soaps have been recorded and can come home to relax and enjoy them. Like the one person said " they are like a novel that never ends". And in my opinion ABC your night time programs are already awful, why ruin your daytime to.
Why are they doing this? I love AMC and OLTL what next GH? I tell you this ABC will lose a veiwer when this happens because I do not like talk shows. I want All MY Soaps!!!! This is not cool to do this to all of us soap'Es out there.
I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT ABC WOULD YANK THESE PROGRAMS FROM THE FANS.
IF PEOPLE WANT TO WATCH A COOKING SHOW LET THEM WATCH THE 500 SHOWS ON THE COOKING CHANNEL, FOOD NETWORK AND PBS.
OLTL AND AMC ARE THE ONLY PROGRAMS I WATCH. I NO LONGER WATCK PRIMETIME BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING ON. THE EVENT, HEROES, LOST ETC ARE NOT WORTH FOLLOWING SINCE TELEVISION CAN'T EVEN COME UP WITH FINALE EPISODES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE.
GREYS ANATOMY, PRIVATE PRACTICE, DESPARATE HOUSEWIVES AND BROTHERS & SISTERS AREN'T EVEN WORTH THE HOUR THEY TAKE UP ON TV.
AT LEAST WITH AMC AND OLTL I CAN WATCH CONTINUING
STORY LINES THAT HAVE BEEN ON SINCE I WAS 11 YEARS OLD.
DISNEY/ABC NEEDS TO RE-EVALUATE PRIMETIME AND COME UP WITH BETTER PROGRAMS THAN THE CURRENT LOT.
i think that they need to keep boths shows on i know what they are going to do they will move the actors around to the last remaining soaps that is still on
