It's hard to look great when you're a single mom dealing with a budding career and your ex's jealous fiancee. But, through all the drama, Gigi on "One Life to Live" has built a solid wardrobe with sharp pieces that are professional and smart while reflecting her personal style.
The former waitress's past may be mysterious, but her wardrobe secrets aren't -- thanks to Susan Gammie, the show's costume designer. Here are her tips for collecting staples that will stand the test of time.
"The good black skirt, as well as a good pair of black pants, are the starting points" for Gigi's look, says Susan. Check out Theory's flattering Nurian Tailor Skirt, a slim pencil skirt with side slash pockets. For classic black pants, try Theory's Max C pant. The wool trousers have a touch of Lycra to give them some stretch and make your legs look great.
To freshen the look, Susan picked Banana Republic's 3/4-length shirt in a bright color. When it comes to Gigi, "I love using strong colors on Farah Fath, because she looks great in them, and because her character is so feisty." To pull the outfit together, add a simple black sweater vest from H&M. Or go with Rampage's vest for a similar look.
For Gigi, Susan says, "It's important to remember that she would not spend money carelessly on her clothing, because she is a single mom on a budget." For good deals on classic staples, she recommends budget-friendly stores like H&M and The Limited.
