What were Kiki and Jimmy like in love?

Here's some news that's been confounding us all morning: "Gossip" girl Lily van der Woodsen Rhodes may have known famous "OC" adults Kirsten Nichol and Jimmy Cooper in their youth.

So says "OC," "Gossip Girl," and "Untitled 'Gossip Girl' Spinoff" creator Josh Schwartz.

The prolific writer ("Chuck" is his too) tells Entertainment Weekly he and cohort Stephanie Savage have been thinking about bringing Kiki and Jimmy (who you may recall were childhood sweethearts) into the social circle of young Lily in Los Angeles. After all, the OC is just a short drive away!

While it seems just a tad insane, we're all for this plan. One of our favorite parts of "The OC" is how it really humanizes the adult characters in a way that most teen dramas prior hadn't. Jimmy and Kirsten have stories, and the idea of seeing the groundwork for them is super appealing.
