When "General Hospital: Night Shift" returns to SOAPnet (July 22 at 11pm ET/PT), it will bring a new face -- Carrie Southworth -- who'll play Dr. Claire Simpson in the medical drama's second season. And we're seriously tickled. Because she rules.
Carrie says she sorta fell into showbiz at age 17, when she was majoring in economics at the University of Virginia. "My younger sister was a model," she tells SOAPnet.com. "The summer after my freshman year, I was home from school and my sister's car broke down, so I drove her to the Elite modeling agency. I walked into the office and they were like, 'Oh, who are you?'"
They took some Polaroids, circulated them around Elite's offices around the country, and Carrie's been catalogue modeling ever since. "It's funny how it happened," she says. "My sister is built much more like a traditional model -- she's very skinny and 5'11''. I'm 5'9" and I'd always thought I was too short to model.
