In January, David Kreizman and Donna Swajeski were named new co-head writers of All My Children. The pair - who were co-head writers on Guiding Light (earning them a 2007 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Writing) - recently sat down with us to give us their thoughts on Pine Valley, and what stories we can expect to see in the comings months.
SOAPnet.com: How is it going so far?
David Kreizman: "So far it's going great. We've really been thrown into the mix. We've had lots of meetings with everyone in every department and luckily we've had relationships with some other people on the team, so there is a comfort level."
Donna Swajeski: "How can you not be happy taking over a show like this? It has such a great history, and we love that. We were fans before we were writers."
David: "We've spent a good amount of time with Agnes [Nixon] and that's been really helpful and exciting."
Why did you want to write for this show?
Donna: "We were fans of the show, and we do love to work together. This came up and it was the perfect blend for us because we love tradition. We love family and all that warm stuff, and yet, we are contemporary writers, so it's kind of good to have that blend of the old and the new. That's what we love about this show. It has a good blend. It has great roots and tradition, and yet it can be funny and hip."
David: "And I've never worked at ABC before, and that's something that I've always wanted to do. I had great experiences with Proctor & Gamble and CBS, but there is just something different in that ABC owns its own shows and can promote them in a different way."
Donna: "And I started here at ABC years ago, so it's like coming home."
Donna, Didn't you work for All My Children?
Donna: "I worked at ABC as an executive just right out of college. The first shows I [worked on] were actually All My Children and Loving. I mean, can you imagine being thrown in with the master storyteller, Agnes Nixon? I got to learn a lot from her, and many things that she told me would happen in life came true. I always remember her words. She was a great person to begin my career with."

Why can't anyone be happy? I think Marrisa should get pg.Tad should tell Damon he is his son. Keep Greenlee helping with David. jack and Erica should ge back togther, but problems with Greenlee. Adam should get with Brooke, then Annie and Scott might get togerther.
Keep Nina around after Palmer's funeral! She could really spice things up with Jackson and/or Tad. She was so pure and innocent as a teenager, make her a real Bitch as a grown up and give Erica a run for money.
My first comment!! I have been watching AMC for years. I have always felt that the writers go overboard when telling a story. There has been so much crime in Pine Valley over the years and EVERYONE has committed these crimes. So, please give us some good story lines that we can get interested in. Annie is my favorite. When she came to Pine Valley, she was in the Marinda Center with her daughter running away from an abusive husband. Ryan finally convinced her that he loved her and she fell for him. They married and I thought they were a great couple. FAst forward, the writers turned her from a loving person to a pshchotic person. Please, give her a back bone and a good storyline. I kinda like the idea of her and JR, let them run Chandler enterprises, but somehow or other, let them really fall in love. Not a love-hate relationship
Guess it's the producers not the writers that could make me happy by showing the original episodes from 30 years ago sometime. I'm sure I'm not the only one that would get a kick out of it. Seeing Erica, Tad, Jesse, and Angie as teenagers again would be hilarious. Anyone agree with me?
Please don't tell me these are the same writers that had Erica and Ryan make me sick to my stomach, and is making Erica look like a pathetic cougar who won't give back or even share the toy (Fusion) she was playing with? I really hope not, because after watching AMC for 30 years I'm almost out the front door ... and I never in my wildest dreams thought I would ever say that! I would really like to watch AMC and enjoy it again ... instead of fast forwarding through more then half of it! I'm still trying to hang in there, but come on writers ... you gotta help me out!!! :)
Hi Soaps Fans!!
New writers what's up? Please bring some excitement back into Pine Valley. Get rid of all those oldies. Concentrate on all the newbies.
Loved, loved, loved Ryan and Greenlee together. Just when we finally got to see them making a semi-normal life for themselves with Emma, they kill her off (what a ridiculous storyline). Now she's back (yay!!) and they still can't put them together. With David? Really?? Ughhh.
Anyone else sick of Ryan? If I was Greenlee, I would take out a restraining order to get him to stop following my every move.
I, for one, want to see bad girl Liza. Liza and Damon should've gotten so drunk that they ended up in bed together. I want the drama that the show had in the 80's. And Jamie Luner is doing a FANTASTIC job playing Liza! Please don't change a thing, except adding more deviant behavior.
OK I'm gonna go out on a limb here but I have a wild crazy idea that just might work Why not bring back Aidan Devane?? OMG! I know crazy right who doesn't want some freshness and to see greenlee with her TRUE love I mean come on that man loved her to peices treated her like a queen and waht did he get in return? A shattered heart and broken ego PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!! bring back Ailee!!! And bring Annie and ryan back together! emma needs a daddy and stable family!
