Mischa Barton was taken to a Los Angeles area hospital Wednesday when she called the police with a health problem. People magazine reports that the 23-year-old actress, whose movie "Homecoming" premiered last night, remains under psychiatric hold.

Mischa, best known for playing Marissa Cooper on "The OC," was arrested for a DUI a year ago, but has since blogged about being healthy and in control. Her career had also recently seen an uptick -- "Beautiful Life," her first series since "The OC," was picked up by CW for the fall.

A rep for the actress told People, "Mischa has been hospitalized per the recommendation of her doctor and is resting in the hospital."
