Picked up less than a week ago, and the new "Melrose Place" is already intriguing us with a major twist. Entertainment Weekly reports that one of the show's regulars will be offed Episode One -- "setting in motion a season-long murder mystery."

How very "Twin Peaks" of them! But who will be "Melrose"'s Laura Palmer? By the way, this is where the spoiler averse should stop reading, because, umm ... HUGE SPOILER! We're good? OK then. The murder victim is none other than the already presumed dead Sydney Andrews. Yes, original cast member Laura Leighton is returning to the famous Melrose courtyard to die. But, EW says, that won't be the last we see of her. Sydney will be featured in flashbacks as the mystery unravels, revealing how she survived being hit by a car all those years ago, and what she's been up to since.

We've got mixed feelings about this one, gang. Resurrect the delightfully bitchy Syd just to get rid of her in 10 minutes? On the other hand -- way to start the series with a bang. What do you think of the twist? Are you planning to watch?
