After finally seeing the season premiere of Being Erica, are you as intrigued as we are about the new guy on the time-traveling therapy scene? Tough, smart, and super-cute, we think Adam is exactly the kind of challenge "Phase Two" Erica needs.
We recently had the opportunity to email with the man behind Adam Fitzpatrick ... Adam Fergus! Read what he had to say about joining the cast, his character, and opening doors, below.
What was it like being "the new guy"? Were you familiar with the show before you joined the cast?
"Initially, of course it was tremendously exciting, it seems like fate now but when I got the script and the character's name was "Adam" I thought -- Well I'm never gonna get this one! Then within the space of a week I was whisked off to a country that I always wanted to visit and had never gotten the chance."
"I only knew the show by name prior to being cast in it but Jana, our creator and exec. producer, made sure I watched all 25 episodes before arriving in Canada. Then having watched the show the nerves started to set in, I quickly realized the amount of talent involved with the production, the acting, the writing, the directing and the production values in general ... everything was top drawer. But Day 1 of the shoot came and I can honestly say I've never experienced an atmosphere like it on set. It was like The Brady Bunch, everyone in the cast and on the crew pulling together to get the best out of the day. After that I felt like I'd been there for years..."
How are you and Adam alike? How do you differ?
"Well I think you always bring a lot of yourself to any character you play and it that respect there are a lot of similarities between us. But in terms of life experience we're extremely different. We find out in episode 1 how hard Adam's life has been. He's had a really tough upbringing and there wasn't a huge amount of love in his family. As a result he turned to a life of violence and crime and is completely emotionally detached from the world. I, on the other hand, had great parents who gave me everything they possibly could and two wonderful sisters who I'm very close to. Now don't get me wrong, I was no saint but I've a pretty clean record ... a few skeletons in my closet but who doesn't ..."
