Good news, Luke Danes fans (and really ... good news, people -- because who doesn't love Luke Danes?). Scott Patterson, the adorable actor behind the baseball-hat-wearing Gilmore Girls diner curmudgeon, has been cast on 90210!

Entertainment Weekly reports that Scott (who once played in the MLB -- who knew?) will come on as troubled-but-getting-better-teen Liam's biological dad. Secret Life of the American Teenager and Dukes of Hazzard actor John Schneider has already appeared a number of times as Liam's less-than-caring stepfather.

According to EW, Scott will be in at least two episodes.

And now, a fun connection for you Gilmore Girls trivia types out there: Rob Estes, who plays West Beverly's principal on the new 90210, played troubled-but-getting-better-teen Jess's biological father on Gilmore Girls. AND, Jess's journey to find Rob as his dad Jimmy was almost turned into its own spin-off series.

Which, obviously, means Scott and Matt are going to hit the road in their own show based on these two upcoming episodes. Winks!
