The writers behind the CW's "Melrose Place" revamp have got their cast of characters ready, and the show's deferential link to the past will be ... Grant Show's Jake Hanson! Entertainment Weekly reports that Jake's now grown-up son David is part of a new ensemble of young, hot Angelenos looking for love in one fabulous apartment complex. Which means Jake has to come visit, right?

The other pretty people populating the remade series are public relations superstar Ella Flynn, moviemaker Jonah Miller, sweet teacher Riley Richmond, trusting hippie Auggie Kirkpatrick, medical student with money problems Lauren Bishop, and new-to-town Violet Foster.

Actors we'd love to see in the roles? How about "Gilmore Girl" Alexis Bledel as Riley, "Moonlight"'s Jason Dohring as David, and -- god forbid anything happen to "Friday Night Lights" -- Adrianne Palicki as Ella?
