Beverly Hills, 90210 star Jason Priestley is testing out his comedic chops. Reuters reports that the 40-year-old actor has signed on for the lead role in new Canadian sitcom Meet Phil Fitz.
Jason will play Phil, a used car salesman who apparently fits the stereotype. He said in a statement, "You don't often have a chance to get paid to be morally bankrupt." Then again -- he did basically play "death" in short-lived series Tru Calling ...
Anyways, Phil develops an alter-ego, fellow salesman and good guy Larry. We don't get exactly how that works, but we're thinking of it as a Fight Club meets that Jeremy Piven movie from earlier this summer type of thing.
The series debuts in Canada next year. Here's hoping for some online peeks at Jason's new project!
Do you like Jason better as a director or an actor?

Love Jason as both, he has a great eye and what he films comes out beautiful. Personally I am glad that he is avoiding the new 90210, with the exception of directing an episode. The new version lacks the chemistry of the original. Plus they are tearing apart the original cast.
I am happy for Jason but I was hoping he would come back to 90210.
