Big news! From New York today we learned that “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” will be getting new digs! Beginning the week of January 4, 2010 (one day before the show’s 40th anniversary), “All My Children” will tape out of an HD-compatible production facility in Los Angeles. “One Life to Live” will move a few blocks from their current studio to occupy the one that “All My Children” is vacating.
Okay, so what does this mean? First and foremost, “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” are still going to air at the same time you’re used to seeing them. And the stories will only get better: the people in Pine Valley will still spend an inordinate amount of time in the hospital, and everyone in Llanview will continue to run into each other at the absolutely worst possible moment.
Agnes Nixon, creator of both shows, had this to say to ABC News:
"I am so grateful for the wonderful commitment from ABC to 'All My Children,' "While I will miss being able to run over to the show ... it feels a little like I am sending one of my children off to be married. ... I am glad the network is making moves that will enable the team to continue telling stories about Pine Valley. ... There are many more secrets to be revealed."
(And she aint kidding… check out August’s sneak peek for “All My Children” here.)

I was a loyal fan of AMC for years. But the past year with so many who done it plots that drag on forever I just about quite watching. I really miss the days when the characters had backbone and not so many guns around children. I don't think this is a good move and I agree that many of the older and favorite characters will get the boot for a teenybopper crowd.

PV is going to start spending an "inordinate amount of time in the hospital...." WTF? That's going to make the story better? You've got to be kidding. I guess they really are trying to cancel the show. If they want to end it, why don't they just write a stroy line that will end all nice and neatly wrapped up and end it. What BS.
HOW MUCH LONGER CAN MARY JANE FOOL THE PEOPLE OF GENOA CITY.MY GOSH VICTOR NEWMAN IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE SMARTEST MAN AROUND TOWN AND A DERANGED WOMAN WITH A DEAD CAT IS GIVING HIM THE RUN AROUND!JUST WHO ALL IS RELATED TO WHO IN THE CHANCELLOR TRIBE. WITH ALL THE DNA SCREWUPS AND TAMPERING THE WRITERS WON'T BE ABLE TO UNTANGLE IT.COME ON YOU SCRIPT WRITERS LET'S MOVE AWAY FROM ALL THESE STORY LINES AND GET RID OF THE OLD SAGAS AND CREATE SOME NEW ONES.
I don't understand why TPTB haven't decided to give CT a try. CT recently passed all sorts of tax breaks and deals for the television and movie industries to relocate here, which is why Lets Make a Deal and a couple of talk shows I think are coming here. If they moved production here than they could probably keep the major actors and actresses who may not follow them across the country. I worry that we are going to lose Erica, Adam, Kendall, Zach, Tad, Joe, Opal, etc. I fear that they will try to call a show with Jake, Amanda, Natalia, Colby, Marissa, Frankie, and Randi, and maybe a couple of recasts or even a couple of the major characters on a sort of recurring basis "All My Children."
Who shout Stuart? Never going to know so..... I believe that any man or woman that wants to be a writer for Soaps, should be required to watch at least 250 hours of The Young and the Restless when Mr Bell was head writer. He kept the story interesting and he kept it flowing. I never seen a story of his go round and round we go when it ends no one knows.
It could be seen as a positive investment in the future of soap operas since there is so much emphasis on the loss of viewers & soap programing dying off.
Second advantage: They can bring everybody back from the dead. Didn't both Rebecca Budig & "Babe" (the First) leave only due to the bi-coastal commute between husbands & jobs?
We can figure out who David has stashed away. Krystal could have had triplets - I don't care. Just put JR & Babe back & dump the Marissa hookup. Mia is out there running a division of Fusion & can fill in while Kendall is in jail.
I do feel for the cast that has to relocate from the East to West Coast. Very different lifestyles - but if you have to follow the paycheck, you do.
I don't think that the veteran actors of AMC will be following you on to LA. I think that you are doing this because you want to cut the salaries. Why don't you just stay in NY and cut the salaries of the veterans who make too much money. I have a feeling that once you move you won't have much of an audience left to watch your new show.
Moving AMC to LA does worry me. I've been watching this show since the beginning -over 35 years now & I still love it. I have seen a decline in the quality of the story lines but keep hoping that things will improve. I love Susan Lucci. AMC would not be AMC without her. Whenever her contract came up for renewal & there was even the slightest hint that she might not renew I would worry myself sick until I had heard that she resigned. I just can't help but think that moving to LA is not a good thing, but a desperate move to try to improve ratings or cut costs. I sincerely hope that the most of the actors (Erica, Tad, Kendall, Zach, Jake, Amanda, Opal, Adam, JR, Jack, Crystal, David, Jessie, Angie, Taylor, Randi, Frankie, Marissa, Liza, Brot, Scott, Natalia, Annie, Emma, Colby, and Pete) will all make the move to LA. I love this show with all its faults & sincerely want to see it go on and on. Please don't mess up my soap!
Times, they are a changin' -- I wish both shows the very best.
I have read all of the negative comments, and I must say that I pity all of you for missing out on the greatness of positivity. It is amazing how far a positive thought or expession can go. Don't be so quick to judge. Judge not lest ye be judged. Think about it.
Also, who are you to speak for the actors involved? You have no idea how the show came to make this decision and therefore should hold your negativity until you know what you are talking about. In the meantime, think positive.
I am absolutely Horrified! Just the possibilities of some of the actors not willing to make the move to L.A. is mind crunching =[. I love AMC, and its sort of been on my nerves lately, but ill never stop watching. PLEASE ABC JUST PLEASE FIRE THAT STUPID PRATT GUY AND HIRE SOMEONE WHO CARES WHAT THE FANS THINK! ugh. And take Brian Frons, Robert Guza, And Cameron Mathison with him! I cant help but think about the future...the show is going to be full of newbies and recasts =X. What if they recasted Zach and Kendall? omg. Just the thought. Heres hoping that nothing drastic ensues.
