While shows around it get the ad campaigns and attention, "One Tree Hill" continues to earn the ratings and renewals. Now in its sixth season, Entertainment Weekly opines it might be the craziest show on TV. To which we respond, duh. And welcome to the fan club.
Interviewing the cast during the shoot for next week's Chad Michael Murray-penned and -directed film noir episode, EW got an earful about what keeps fans coming back to "Tree Hill" -- and why being the underdog works. The day's auteur, Chad Mike, explained, "It's a blessing not to be under the microscope. We'd never be able to make this episode if we weren't under the radar." Show creator Mark Schwahn added, "We were never a show that was going to get somebody fired. I used to bristle at the fact that we didn't get that kind of attention, but it's honestly a big part of what saved us."
Opting for a classy yet still "in your face" attitude, Sophia Bush told EW, "We do wonder why we don't get the promotion that some other shows get, especially when we rate better. But it also makes us feel great that we do rate better, even though we don't have $40 million ad campaigns."
Oh yeah. She's talking about you, "Gossip Girl."
