The Light goes out on September 18, when Guiding Light airs it's last episode after a mind boggling 72 year run. We've already looked back, in two parts, on some of our favorite moments, stories, couples and characters - so now we move onto part 3.

I sure would like to see Soapnet channel start running old Guiding light episodes as far back as they can. I have been watching for 35 years, and I miss it so much I actually cried when they cancelled it. How about it soapnet, start running the old episodes.
I miss Guiding Light. They put The Price is Right in it's time slot. Why did they have to take it off the air? I love Guiding Llight. I was pleased to see Johnathan come back and seeing Lizzie reunited with her daughter. That was wonderful but most of all seeing Reva and Josh get back together was the best. Seeing all the families together was heart breaking...It was a great story, I wish it didn't have to end. I will always remember all the great moments from GL!
As a young child i lived in the country & would hear Papa Bauer, Madda, Bert & all those people on the radio . My mom listened while she prepared our food.In 1954 we moved to Louisville, Ky.where my Grandma lived. When I was at her house I heard her t.v. & they were calling each other by name. I went to the t.v. & said I heard these people on our radio. The family got a big laugh & I sit down & watched it. I continued to watch it to the last day it was broadcast Couldn't keep the tears back. It was like the loss of family. I refuse to watch CBS because of it. My husband, son & grandchildren all watched this. Such a shame to cancel a good family show. Shame on CBS. Boycott CBS.
I have watched Guiding Light since the early sixties.I grew up with this show, have always loved it.I was so heart broken to know that the show was ending. The last day of the show,I cried through the entire show.I feel like I have losted a big
part of my family.I loved them all,but Reva and Gosh are my
favorites.I wish all the cast the best of luck.I will truly miss them all.I Applaud you all. Take Care,SnowAngel
Atleast everyone that deserved to be together got their wish, sad for Allen, but, with him not going to the military i believe was the reason he was so power hungry, Now he can truely be the hero he always wanted to be, He went down a hero. I will miss this show and all the crazy things that went with it. GUIDING LIGHT WILL BE MISSED!!... so mad that its not bold and beautiful!!!! ewww again i hate that show
When the light went out this week for GL, it sent a large shock wave for daytime soaps. GL was a victim of politcal rating wars amongst other soaps, sponsors, cable networks, economic times, and a host of other issues. This should be awake up call to all the remaining shows, that no matter how great the show maybe, it could happen!!!
You know I remember watching guiding light with my mom in the 60s and I have been a faithful viewer since. It just breaks my heart that it is going off the air I hoping they will have a new story line and bring it back .Of all the shows they chose the one that I really got into.I do wish all the actors and acterss the best of luck and god bless to them all.
Guiding Light bit the dust...I haven't been this sad since Ryan's Hope got the ax in 1989...Now that show had some real talent...I'm speaking mainly of the late (and it breaks my heart) Nancy Addison-Altman and Michael Levin...LOVED them, Michael and in Nancy's case, Daniel, I hope that you're reading this.
Otherwise, I did like how Josh and Reva the greatest couple of all time road off...literally in the sunset!! LOVE Josh and Reva...further...they look realistic for people their ages...Not like those ageless actors who've kept plastic surgeons in business. One question...WHAT happened to Blake's twins?? And Clarissa??
why did they take the best soap off the air?
was it the ratings?I will miss the guiding light that was my favorite soap off all time i am really glad josh and Reva got back together but what happen with Edmond and
Jeffery?
OK ? why is guiding light leaveing CBS?? they are the best.....as a matter of fact, It my fav soap. I don't think it is fair at all. I think you need to go back and take a look at all soaps.... cause i know some are not good, but the guiding light is the best. I don't think i will ever understand why CBS would do such a thing ? I not happy about it at all . am realy Mad about it. I love all of them very much. and i just hate to see them go:-( it will be a very sad day for me.
