Great news, General Hospital fans! The opening credits sequence, which has remained largely unchanged since 2004, is now updated! It debuts in the February 23rd episode - the show's 12,000th - but we've got an exclusive look for you at ABC.com.
Head over to ABC.com to see it!

Even though I am not a GENERAL HOSPITAL fan, I LOVE their new opening, too. With the actor's names' being credited with their character's name, this reminds me of the opening credits for THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL.Since GH has now redone their opening credits, I can only hope that ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE will follow suit with new opening credits of their own similar to GH's new one. Given the fact that ABC mandated for all 3 soaps to have similar opening credits in 2004, I can only wonder if ABC will again mandate for AMC and OLTL to redo their openings similar to GH's.
Love the credits. Just give Jason a wedding already. Close the score. Leave the whores.
I love them. But really, make Jasons mind up for him. Sam, Carly, liz. Come on already
I think the new opening is way overdue!! But well worthwhile.
love the new credits
GOOD!!! - Geary still walks off the set at the end - I'm sure he wants to walk off the set PERMANETLY with all this scumbles crap and the junior high BS at the hospital - after 47 years - this is the worst I have ever seen GH - and I saw the "Space Cadet/Casey" storyline - so that says ALOT!!!
I want Anna , Robert ,Sean, Tiffany back. Bobby (jackie Zeman) what did you do to your face !!
I loved the new opening. It was a great idea to do it for their 12,000th. Now bring back Noah Drake and I will be over the moon.
I admire several things about the new opening:
1) We see almost everyone. Curious as to why the kids were omitted, though. They're better actors than SOME people I could name.
2) Jane Elliott was [adjective inappropriate for SoapNet] gorgeous in her closeup. I ♥ her a lot. And, apparently, so do the writers. She DOES get some great dialogue, doesn't she?
3) Real names and character names---together! Woo hoo!!! Not only does it give 'props' to some REALLY hard-working people, it reduces the number of wackadoos who shout "Luke! LUKE!!!" at Tony Geary, while he's simply trying to enjoy some peace and quiet, a special brownie, and a cup of tea in his favorite Amsterdam café.
4) It's NEW! There were 11 men in that closing scene:
AJ Quartermaine - dead
Justus Ward - dead
Alan Quartermaine - dead(-ish)
Alcazar - dead (twice!)
Ric - off the show
Dillon Quartermaine - off the show
Lucky Spencer - recast
Luke - only half-on the show (see above)
That left only three-- Sonny, Jason, and Nikolas-- who were current, regular characters.
We were way overdue for a revision. Thanks, GH. Now, if you just could lure the Donnellys and Scorpios back for just ONE more summer caper...
Love the new opening, Thursday show was so out there especially Patrick he was way over the top. He knows Robin and Sonny are like family. He was not mad about that I think he is mad because he is married with a kid. Another thing Lisa is always around when Patrick and Robin are having a fright. Sam was right to tell Ethan about Kristina crush. But there is chemistry between Ethan and Kristina. Johnny has lost it. If he thinks Jason and Sonny are going to allow him to get away with missing with the business. he is a loose cannon that will be dealt with. Ethan is in trouble, Luke needs to talk to him. Oliva needs to end it asap.
