General Hospital Recasts Michael

Chad Duell is the new Michael CorinthosBreaking news: General Hospital is recasting the role of Michael Corinthos. Drew Garrett will be exiting the part of Sonny and Carly's son, and actor Chad Duell will be taking over the role.

 

ABC issued the following statement on the recast: "We are recasting the role of Michael Corinthos Jr., the son of Sonny and Carly, with actor Chad Duell. His first airdate is Tuesday, April 20th. The continuing storyline will have viewers on the edge in the weeks leading up to May sweeps as Michael and his father frantically try to hide the truth that he murdered his stepmother Claudia.

 

We want to thank Drew Garrett for his time with General Hospital and wish him well in all his future endeavors."

 

Drew Garrett took over the role in April 2009, when Michael woke up from a nearly year-long coma.

 

Chad has appeared on shows such as The Wizards of Waverly Place and The Suite Life on Deck.

I thought Drew was doing a great job portraying Michael! Geeze, I just got used to the new Michael and they're changing him again.

I can't believe that Michael is being recasted!! Even though I wasn't very happy when he killed Claudia (I'm a huge Sarah Brown fan!!!!) he was still a good actor. Let's hope the new Michael can keep up with the amazing actors on GH.

I'm shocked as well that Drew is leaving and even though I was hating Michael I got used to Drew...but u neva know if a recast can be good or bad for example they changed Carly 4 times and now we finally have the perfect 1 so I'm not gonna judge it until I witness Chad's work

I am pretty shocked and dismayed. I have loved Drew from day one, even though I really hate Michael at times. Drew is such a great actor and he played Michael perfectly. And he was so cute!! This new guy looks like a d bag. I hope he's as good an actor as Drew is or else it will just be painful to watch. I hope Drew is leaving becasue he is moving on to bigger and better things. He should really have no problems getting other jobs with his talent and looks.

I AM PISSED!!! DREW GARRETT WAS THE PERFECT ROLE FOR MICHAEL CORINTHOS THEY DONT EVEN TELL US WHY!!! WTF?? HAPPEND!! I JUST HOPE TO SEE DREW SOMEWHERE ELSE IN THE FUTURE HE IS A GREAT ACTOR AND THIS NEW MICHAEL HE LOOKS LIKE A GOOD BOY!!! AND MICHAEL IS NO GOODBOY!!!

Gotta address a couple things. First of all to the one who complained about recasting Lucky from Greg Vaughan to Jonathan Jackson. Jonathan played the original Lucky for years before trying movies(Deep End of the Ocean). 2nd of all, Michael is Carly's biological child but not Sonny's biological child. Michael's biological father is A.J. Quartermaine, so Michael would not look like Sonny at all.

Now, sometimes soap recasts are huge successes, sometimes they tank. Hopefully this "new" Michael can really act and can continue to explore Michael's character. Drew Garrett did a good job playing a newly awakened Michael with all his struggles..
