Breaking news: General Hospital is recasting the role of Michael Corinthos. Drew Garrett will be exiting the part of Sonny and Carly's son, and actor Chad Duell will be taking over the role.
ABC issued the following statement on the recast: "We are recasting the role of Michael Corinthos Jr., the son of Sonny and Carly, with actor Chad Duell. His first airdate is Tuesday, April 20th. The continuing storyline will have viewers on the edge in the weeks leading up to May sweeps as Michael and his father frantically try to hide the truth that he murdered his stepmother Claudia.
We want to thank Drew Garrett for his time with General Hospital and wish him well in all his future endeavors."
Drew Garrett took over the role in April 2009, when Michael woke up from a nearly year-long coma.
Chad has appeared on shows such as The Wizards of Waverly Place and The Suite Life on Deck.

Lets give the new Micheal a chance... im sure we will all grow to love him!
sad :{ drew was awesome i was sad to see Dylan go but Drew sold me gh get your act together.
what a great actor he was so great as Michael so believable in his acting. What a big mistake they are making!
How can you replace Drew Garrett who has played Michael Corinthos to the hilt. How bout creating a new character for Chad Duell. I understand that GH has to get more people watching, but this move is just bad. Think it's time for ABC to do some firing of their own.
Drew is SUCH an excellent actor. I'm sorry to see him go, but I know that wherever he goes, he will make a dang fine name for himself.
He was an asset to GH.
Funny that people are upset over the fact that Michael doesn't look like Sonny and Carly...he shouldn't. He should look like Carly and his daddy, AJ Quartemaine. That said, Drew is a seriously intense actor. Love the dude. I had to get used to his over-the-top smashed brain reactions but they kinda toned his reactions down and his outbursts have been controlled lately. He's young cute, talented and kinda tall. He has a "movie" look and feel. Maybe he's just moving on to something else. Many actors have said daytime is a great training ground. Perhaps he's been fortunate enough to grab the training and move on before becoming typecast. I really hope that's the case.
So sorry to see Drew leave GH. I liked him a lot. I don't like when they change characters. I wish Kristina would get her act together and report to the police who really beat her up. It's true about the Claudia storyline - enough already. It was so nice to see Carly go and speak to Kristina - she was wonderful. Too bad Alexis barged in. Maybe the kid would have told the truth if she hadn't.
I'm getting sick of Sam and her big mouth.
I for one don't like changes but i'll have to admit that sometimes change is good, maybe we'll get to see a micheal who is more muture and more like his father. On the other hand Kristina is getting on my damn nerves.
Gee, I had a hard time reading those run on sentences. We still however, are entitled to our opinions, and I loved Drew in the role - IF there even has to be a role.
Okay people yes we watched the original Michael grow up the kid was ugly he looked very sick and needed some son his acting was not allof that at all it was very scripted looked as if they were holding cards inthe air for himto read at. This Michael looks like Jason and Carly looks like he can be related to both families and not look like the doll chucky or a leprochan, it is a show we all should be use to recasting they made michael go into the coma in Junior High but wake up about to be 18 come on people not rocket science . I do wish that they do not drag this out to may come on get over this Claudia stuff already.
