General Hospital Recasts Michael
Breaking news: General Hospital is recasting the role of Michael Corinthos. Drew Garrett will be exiting the part of Sonny and Carly's son, and actor Chad Duell will be taking over the role.
ABC issued the following statement on the recast: "We are recasting the role of Michael Corinthos Jr., the son of Sonny and Carly, with actor Chad Duell. His first airdate is Tuesday, April 20th. The continuing storyline will have viewers on the edge in the weeks leading up to May sweeps as Michael and his father frantically try to hide the truth that he murdered his stepmother Claudia.
We want to thank Drew Garrett for his time with General Hospital and wish him well in all his future endeavors."
Drew Garrett took over the role in April 2009, when Michael woke up from a nearly year-long coma.
Chad has appeared on shows such as The Wizards of Waverly Place and The Suite Life on Deck.

Watched the "new" Michael character this afternoon. As I said yesterday, he doesn't possess the physical attributes that draw many fans to the soaps. Whether or not Chad can be an effective replacement remains to be seen; I suppose we have to give him a chance, but at the moment, I am unimpressed and definitely missing Drew Garrett.
I have not watch my favorite show in 3 and half weeks and will NEVER watch again Drew we love you HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
I have been an avid fan of GH for many, many years. The show has become like family to me. Although I have not read nor heard why Michael was recast, I believe the viewers have the right to know why!!! The new Michale just doesn't come across like Drew Garrett does as Michael.
Clearly though, Drew is a much better actor and more believable as Sonny's son. Drew Garrett displayed a lot of Sonny's traits and he is more convincing than this new kid. Plus, he favors Jason !! I am soooo disapppointed and hurt by this change. I feel this story line should have at least ended with Drew casted as Michalel, you owed that much to your faithful viewers. Work something out and BRING DREW GARRETT BACK!!!! P L E A S E

OMG please oh please tell me they will bring Drew back he is so hot and was perfect for that role. Chad just looks way to old to be an 18 year old boy and i didnt belive he was actually mad when he was supposed to be. Please GH bring Drew back
I, too, am terribly disappointed in GH for recasting Michael. Drew was doing such an excellent job! He had an edge that someone with brain damage would have. This new Michael is too soft. I hope GH reconsiders and brings back Drew!
Bring back Drew as Michael. He was so much better. Than the new one.
I am extremely troubled since Drew Garrett is no longer playing the role of Micheal. He was great at it.
I wanted him to remaine on the show in that role permanently. I was so mad that i didn't want to watch the episode with the new one but i am too nosy and too dedicated not to.
And the people you chose to change really kill me...Lucky now Michael...
I HATE the new Micheal, they should have kept Drew!!! The new Micheal is ridiculously CORNY!!! What were they thinking?????
