Eric Braeden's "Pulled the Plug" on Contract Talks
Sometimes we have to pass on news that we really hope isn't true. And THIS, SOAPnet readers, is one of those times.
After a few weeks of "Will they work it out?" intrigue, 30-year Young and the Restless veteran Eric Braeden has told Entertainment Weekly that all contract negotiations between his people and Sony are over. Check out his full statement:
"We reached an impasse in the negotiations. I have shown flexibility, they have shown none. It is over. I pulled the plug. That's it. No more. If I show good will, I expect it to be reciprocated. If there is a rigid attitude on the other side, what is there to negotiate? That's a sign of utter disrespect. I will not negotiate with people who remain aloof and arrogant about the whole thing. Not after 30 years, I won't do that. I'm saying this with a great amount of sadness because I've had nothing but respect for my fellow cast members, I have deep respect for the crew who has done an extraordinary job year in and year out, and I have enormous respect for Maria Bell."
He added: "It's slowly sinking in. It's sad."
We'll say! What's GC going to do without Victor Newman and his schemes?

Now that we know, my friends and I will no longer watch The Young and Restless since Victor will no longer be there - HOW MUCH SENSE DOES IT MAKE WITHOUT VICTOR - COME ON SONY GET SOME REAL BUSINESS SENSE.

Please do whatever you can to keep Victor. Victor is the show. I have been watching for years. I will not watch any longer if Victor is not going to be on.
victor is the young and the restless. i have been watching victor from the brook sisters to the present. i have watched this show from the first airing untill now. i know a lot of people in my age group who wiil not watch it anymore. the only other person to keep this show afloat is katherine. now that they have limited her power and turing it over to jill who is a flip flop this show has flopped for me and i speak for others
I have been watchng Y&R since I was a little kid and I can't think of a time when there wasn't a Vctor Newman. I think the show is getting bad and I am considering stop watching. I wish they would end this Sharon and Ashley baby switch and I can't wait for Adam tro get exaactly what is coming to him. I think Nick and Sharon should be together and I think Phyllis should be alone. She is a witch and I can't stand her. What makes her think she is any better than Sharon....wasn't Sharon married to Nick when she slept with him. She judges Amber when she is no better than Amber. Lookat wha she done to Danny years ago when he was in love with Christina....Hypocrite
I have watched Y & R so long and the one reason why I love it so much is because it so real please stop the sharon and ashley baby switch this is crazy. Yes Victor must stay love him
I was been watching them since I was 12 years old.I said " Please bring Ashley's real baby and not take Sharon's real baby." That got big mistake.I hope Adam will tell Sharon before her baby will get sick of lot crying not belong Ashley or it will take to grow about 4 month olds or won't take long for one year old to return Sharon real baby.I was not happy this show action got awful. Please stop action of kind very serious.
After as many years a he has played this role you just don't shut the door on him and look for someone else. You just don't.
I just can't believe it. This has to be a mistake. Victor is what makes the show. There just isn't any other who can play this role. I have been watching Y&R forever. There just has to be some kind of compramise. If you take off Victor then you will just regret doing so. Ratings will drop. He has such great character. What is this really about. He's trying to negotiate a deal with no talks from the writers. I say keep him on.
I hate to hear that EB will be leaving the Y&R. I hope that he does stay on the program. He really is such a strong character in the show.
He will be missed. And, the show will be missing a lot of viewers.
