Emmys Younger Actor: The Overlooked

JPI

In a nutshell: OMG and WTH?!?

The Daytime Emmy nominations aired live on "The View" today, and, like "Hot Topics," there were a lot of surprises. Mainly with who wasn't nominated.

Let's start by congratulating all the nominees. Since it's so fast-paced, daytime is a really, really tough industry. Most shows do 250 episodes a YEAR. So, it's nice that so many talented people were recognized for doing quality work.

But where the heck were some others? Here's our take on the Younger Actor category:

This is going to be interesting. Some really, really strong performers here, particularly Van Hansis (gay teen Luke on "As the World Turns") and Tom Pelphrey (who just left the role of Jonathan on "Guiding Light"). We're curious what Bryton McClure (Devon on "The Young and the Restless") submitted. He's a talented actor, but Devon wasn't in any story last year!

We thought Brandon Buddy (Cole on "One Life to Live") might've made the cut. He totally broke our hearts in those scenes after Marty's death, and who knew he was such a good singer? Another contender could have been Matthew Florida from "Days of Our Lives." His uber-creepy turn as campus rapist Ford Decker gave us nightmares. For real!
