What? Really? Bummer ... .
The Daytime Emmy nominations aired live on "The View" today, and, like "Hot Topics," there were a lot of surprises. Primarily in who DIDN'T make the list.
Let's start by congratulating all the nominees. In daytime, it's especially tough to deliver quality material, because it's so fast-paced. Most shows do 250 episodes a YEAR. So, it's nice that so many talented people were recognized.
But where the heck were some others? Here's our take on the Lead Actress category:
No offense to the nominees, but nobody from ABC or NBC? That's really weird. It's not for lack of deserving candidates. Alison Sweeney is underrated as "Days of Our Lives" troublemaker Sami (or "SSSSSAMMMI," as Kate Roberts calls her) and was really great during John's death last year.
Over on the ABC front, there were some other omissions. Nancy Lee Grahn of "General Hospital" was funny and touching when Alexis was dealing with cancer (remember when Alexis got stoned?). Over at "One Life to Live," Erika Slezak's performance of WASP-y Viki finding herself -- literally and figuratively -- as a waitress in Paris, Texas, was sweet.
Susan Flannery (Stephanie on "The Bold and the Beautiful") usually gets a nod. We're surprised she didn't get one this year, particularly for the whole "I-caused-my-worst-enemy-to-get-raped-but-now-I-feel-bad" story with Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke).
We DO need to give the love to the nominees. Michelle Stafford is always kick-ass, but particularly when she did double duty as Sheila ("Bold and the Beautiful") and Phyllis ("Young and the Restless"). And Jeanne Cooper is so hot as Katherine on "The Young and the Restless." Have you ever noticed how Katherine always has those long, blood red fingernails? We love when she goes waving those things around. They are totally a prop!

I would definately include Jason from GH, Robin what a wonderful actress she has always been. Just a kid when she began, has come a long way. Maxie is funny, delightful and true to the people she cares about. Dante has been an exellent addition to GH, he almost resembles his father in the soap. Spinnelli is a good actor, but confuses me at times with his ideas . Although Zach is gone in AMC, I am hoping that truly hesurvived the plane crash and can return to Kendall, the love of his life. David is a great villain to keep. You never know where his thinkings is taking you. Liza should start a new life in another city, posibly Port charles. I hear Luke and Jax love redheads with green eyes.
Not only was Alison Sweeney left out of the Emmy nomination for 2008 but she was also let out this year.
What is with the Emmys and why do they hate Ali?
Ali did the work of her life last year during the death of Grace and the Sydnapping reveal but yet still she was not nominated.
So SAD and the trend will continue next year and frankly i wouldn't be watching the EMMYS anymore.
