Emmys Lead Actor: Who's Overlooked?

JPI

In a nutshell: OMG and WTH?!?

The Daytime Emmy nominations aired live on "The View" today, and, like "Hot Topics," there were a lot of surprises. Primarily about who wasn't nominated.

Let's start by congratulating all the nominees. Daytime is so fast-paced, and that makes it a really, really tough industry. Most shows do 250 episodes a YEAR! So, it's nice that so many talented people were recognized for doing quality work.

But where the heck were some others? Here's our take on the Lead Actor category:

We've got to say it. Robert S. Woods (Bo from "One Life to Live") was robbed. This was totally his year. The episodes where Bo deals with dad Asa's death? We're sorry, but he was completely understated and brilliant in his grief AND anger at his father. Those were the episodes he submitted, so what's up?

That said, the actors who made the short list are all very good. Thaao Penghlis (Tony from "Days of Our Lives") was a surprise, but he's a perfect example of the often ignored "Days" finally getting some love. So, it's great for him. Christian LeBlanc (Michael on "The Young and the Restless") is a strong actor but really hasn't done much since running after crazy Sheila-I-mean-Phyllis-I-mean-Sheila, right? Still, that happened during the time when the actors were being considered for nominations, so it probs got him the nod.
