Nicolette Sheridan is shuffling off the mortal coil known as Wisteria Lane at the end of this season

Shocking news has leaked from the normally high-security set of "Desperate Housewives" in Universal City, California. It has been confirmed that Marc Cherry, creator and head writer, has decided to write off the character of Edie Britt, the neighborhood sexpot played by Nicolette Sheridan, at the end of this season.

This is surprising news, since Edie had just returned to Wisteria Lane after the five-year jump occurred. And with the show committed to air through 2011, it seems an odd time to start getting rid of characters. Will Teri Hatcher's Susan be next??? God knows she falls down on all the time. Maybe she'll fall down a well. Like all these other soap characters.
