Days Star Stephen Nichols Joins Y&R
Tucker McCall has already caused problems on-screen for the citizens of Genoa City -- now it seems casting the part has caused The Young and the Restless producers problems off-screen.
William Russ currently plays J.T.'s mogul boss, who recently wooed Jill, moved to GC, and snatched the Chancellor I.P.O. opportunity away from various bummed-out Newmans and Abbotts. But, TV Guide reports, Days of our Lives actor Stephen Nichols has been hired to take over the role -- starting today! His first air date will be January 27th.
Y&R head writer Maria Arena Bell commented to the mag: "William Russ is a talented actor and we enjoyed working with him. However, we decided to take the character in another direction."
What direction is that? TV Guide speculates Tucker will start to play a much larger role on Y&R when he's revealed to have a "shocking connection" to one of the current cast members. And Stephen is a soap favorite, having played Patch on Days, and Stefan on both General Hospital and Port Charles.
... We can't wait to see what Stephen (and the possible Tucker story) brings!

I feel William Russ portrayed a better character than Stephen Nichols does! Big difference in the characternow I am not a big fan of this!!
I'm totally enjoying Stephen Nichols as Tucker McCall. He gives the role a pizazz that I just didn't see when it was played by William Russ. Mr. Russ is a wonderful actor but for this role Stephen is the better fit, especially if they're taking the role in a new direction. I don't think Mr. Russ' Tucker was tough enough to go up against Victor, Jack and Kay but I do think that Stephen Nichol's Tucker will give them a run for their money and maybe even defeat that creep Victor because Victor needs to lose. Maybe it will bring him down a few pegs and make him realize that he's not all that! The same goes for Jack! I can't stand either of them. As for the issue of Stephen looking too young to be Katherine's son that's not true at all. Stephen Nichols is only one year younger than William Russ so it is totally possible for him to portray Katherine's son.
I want William Russ back, he is amazing in that part. He gave freshness to everything. I loved him with Jill, too perfect!! He is the perfect billionaire. Stephen is a nice guy, but not for this part........ Put him some place else. BRING BACK WILLIAM RUSS........ I have never written a comment on any soap opera before. I have watched Restless for a heck of a long time. I even got use to the new ADAM.Great idea with Adam and Sharon.....Bring back William Ross.
I felt that way when they replaced Adam and I still prefer the 1st one, I can't stand the way this Adam talks in that monotone voice of his and I don't think he's as good an actor nor as cute!
But in this case I feel Stephen Nichols fit's this role better 4 the direction Tucker is going and has already shown a better presence even tho ITA he is a bit young 4 Jill....but hey she just became a COUGAR! LOL
Yes Stephen is a great actor but I have to agree that Willam Russ was a great actor that filled the part. It is a shame that Y & R didn't see that. I am not as excited with the storyline now with Stephen as I was. Willam truly fit the part.
William Russ is a great actor and brings another dimension to his characters. Such a shame as he was why i liked Tucker McCall.
Come on you guys give Stephen a chance.Sure William was good as Tucker but we have to look at jill and tucker together on screen to see if there is chemistry or not.He's a good actor.Kinda strange but good.

I am pissed off over the change. I don't like stephen nichols. He is to young to be kays son and to young for jill. If it's not broke don't try to fix it. Wm Russ has been great in this role. He is a good actor, and fits well with the other charectors. Just a screw up by your casting people. Wm Russ adds alot to the story and he is easy on the eyes. stephen nichols looks like someone who just stepped out of the twilite zone. Sorry Mr. Russ we will miss you!!! You were great playing Tucker. Just another screw up by Y&R.....Hope to see you soon.....
I loved Wm. Russ' portrayal but being a Days fan,can't wait to see Stephen again.
