You guys, this was one of the saddest weeks ever on Days of our Lives. If there is anyone who can tug at your heartstrings, it's Suzanne Rogers as Maggie Horton (more on her performance later). We for serious had tissue nearby at all times. There were many poignant moments this week, as well as a few "WTH" ones ... here's our rundown:
Funniest Moment: It's safe to say no one really brought the funny this week. Frankly, it would've been weird and awkward to throw in some guffaws in the midst of Salem mourning Mickey's death. We did find it mildly amusing when Brady was trying to explain the opera he just saw on his and Arianna's double date with Chloe and Daniel had to do with a real-life (well, actually kinda made-up) situation that Arianna faces at the Pub each day. He was pretty clueless. (And since when does Salem have an opera house?)
WTH? Moment: We've highlighted this before ... but wow, does Melanie have a knack for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. Y'know, we've grown to enjoy Mel more over these last couple of months ... but if anyone in Salem has "Severe Foot-in-Mouth Syndrome," it's this girl. Like you'd really walk into a room where everyone looks EXTREMELY SAD and sarcastically say "Nice welcome ... who died?" Oy vey.
Best Moment: We were pretty partial to the mini-throwdown between Hope and Carly. They each had legitimate points to throw in each other's faces -- Hope calling out Carly for taking advantage of her and Bo's fragile marriage and using Bo to help her run from murder charges, and Carly rightly calling out Hope for leaving Bo in the first place. These two characters didn't have much to do with each other in the past, so it's fun to see them spare in the present. We hope it all gets straightened out, though. Bope 4EVA!
Two runners-up: We did enjoy the trip down memory lane after Mickey's funeral -- so many good times to remember -- and we also are SO happy to finally know who Carly's daughter is! We kinda called it, in our minds at least ... it's Melanie! They're both kinda spitfire-y, right?
Performer of the Week: In case it's not obvious, this whole week was about Maggie mourning her beloved Mickey's death ... and Suzanne Rogers really nailed it. We had to pause our DVR a few times because, well, we watch Days while at our SOAPnet.com desk -- and crying at work is never sexy. Maggie's love for Mickey was so palpable, it jumped through our TV screen. Nicely done, Suzanne.
Why We Love Days of our Lives This Week: Because we enjoy when EJ is duplicitous; because we like watching Brady save the day (even though it might cause friction in his relationship with Arianna); because Days didn't forget characters like Alice, Marie, and Sarah as those affected by Mickey's death; and because it's always fun when one character calls another a whore. It's why daytime rules.
What was your favorite part of Days?

Wahoo..finally a place that I can keep up with days on.
Does anyone know how old the women that plays Maggie Horton is?
I remember her from the time I was a boy. She is a beautiful lady.
Ok. So I might be a week late but here goes. I was completely and utterly SPEECHLESS when it was revealed that E.J is leader of Sydney's kidnapping. I couldn't even respond to that. WTH.... quit the revenge and give Sydney back to Sami NOW. I was sad that Mickey died, but why hasn't he been on the show before his death? And since he hasn't been on it, what was the purpose of his death? Just wondering? I wasn't suprised that Melanie is carly's daughter, but I still wonder, who's her father? Bo? or was it really that creepy Trent guy? Hope they reveal it soon and not drag it out. Hope Melanie learns this soon. And I'm not really sure what to say about the whole Bo and Carly thing. I guess we will just have to ride it out.........
i agree 100% bo and hope forever
One more thing - Rafe is a dish. Galen Gering is handsome and is such a gentleman around Sammie (at least from what I have seen). I still prefer Hope over Carly and always will! There is no comparison! Bo and Hope belong together!
If you sit back and watch these soaps you will see they are all the same . They need to make changes . I tell you what I sure could come up with some stuff .
Soaps are based on what some people go though in life . and I do think they should be more stable couples. I for one can say I can tell a change in my daughter in law and my son after watching . Its like the show that went off. and Yes it would be nice to see more stable couples / families on this show.
I think that Sam and E J needs to be together .and Ray and Stef needs to be together . and you need to leave Bo and Hope alone and if Carly is expecting let someone else be the daddy . NOT BO ! Bo and Hope has enough Drama.
I for one am glad that Bo and Hope are 'breaking up.' I have been watching this show since it's air date way back in the 1960's and Hope deserves NOT to have Bo! I agree with others that Carly isn't the right woman for him but anyone would be better than Hope! Hope has no one to blame but herself for the situation she is in now but I'm pretty sure that she and Bo will not be apart for long - they ALWAYS bring them back together!
Maggie and Hope are two my favorite characters on Days. Suzanne Rogers is a great asset to this show and always has been. I just wish the writers would give the Bo and Hope up and down melodrama a rest. It would be nice if Bo and Hope were a couple like Mickey and Maggie or Alice and Tom Horton, or even Marlena and Roman or Marlena and John Black. When they show those campy flashbacks from the 1980s of Bo and Hope, Bo is always smiling, both of them are. Bo never seems to smile anymore, so his "caring" for Carly isn't very convincing. It would be nice to get away from the predictable story line of Carly and Bo. She has nothing to offer and is not very convincing as a physician because she never seems to be at the hospital very long. She had a lot of nerve to go back to Maggie's home after her showdown. Maggie is too classy of a lady to deal with the likes of Carly. Also, please give that beautiful little girl, Sidney back to Sammie. I'm tired of seeing Sammie miserable, and Sidney is such a beautiful little child.
