Five-time Daytime Emmy winner David Canary -- who has played manipulative and controlling (but lovable) millionaire Adam Chandler on All My Children since 1983 -- has announced his retirement.
"My career on All My Children has given me more than words could ever convey, both professionally and personally. I have cherished each and every moment. I would like to thank all the fans who have tuned in throughout the years. Their love and support has meant the world to me. I truly feel that I will leave the show in great hands. The viewers will be happy with how Adam departs the canvas and I know that leaving JR (Jacob Young) as head of the Chandler household will continue to provide the show with many great stories to come. This is not the last you've seen of Adam Chandler. I will be back to check up on the Chandler Clan," David said.
David, who also played Adam's gentle twin Stuart, will air through April 2010. Expect to see a scandalous end to his marriage with Annie (Melissa Claire Egan) and a reunion with an ex-wife. Which one? Take a guess -- he's got six of them (that are alive, at least). Look for the aftermath of his departure to leave a fight for power within the Chandler household.
We wish David all the best!
How would YOU like to see Adam bid adieu to Pine Valley?

I agree, Adam should indeed be tested and be a match for JR but since Adam's health and age are an issue he should still go through with the transplant and then when he is sure that the transplant is a success slowly pass on to "Angel land". David Canary you will be missed so much. I too have watched you since the days of Bonanza. Looking forward to seeing you in upcoming cameoes of AMC. All my best to you.
DAVID, I HAVE WATCHED YOU FROM BONANZA TO ALL MY CHILDREN. I HAVE MET YOU ON SEPARATE YEARS AT SUPER SOAP WEEKEND IN ORLANDO. I HAVE ENJOYED ALL
OF IT. I WILL TRUELY MISS YOU AND HOPE YOU CAN MAKE PERIODIC VISITS TO ALL MY CHILDREN.
David (Adam) you will be sadly missed. you are most of the reason people watch all my children. yes I agree with everybody, get rid of anne. test adam and use his bone marrow not anne's
I have been dreading this news! Adam Chandler leaving the show, who would have thought...? David, you will be missed so very much. You were one of the reasons I stayed watching the show, all the schemes and how mean you could be, but I loved that about "Adam." Good luck in your retirement and come back to visit Pine valley as often as you can. They will need a little upheaval every now and then. I will miss you! God Bless you always!
Love, Deanna

I really hate to see Adam go...He always had me going back and forth, just when you think he couldnt get any more ruthless.. he would shock us all and get a heart..LOL... YOU WILL BE GREATLY MISSED!!!!!! you along with so many make this show what it is!!! take care
who is going to be the man you hate and love at the same time now. Good luck David. He should leave Tempo to Brooke. That would drive Anne crazy. I don;t like the new Colby, she can't act.
