David Canary to Retire

David Canary has decided to retireFive-time Daytime Emmy winner David Canary -- who has played manipulative and controlling (but lovable) millionaire Adam Chandler on All My Children since 1983 -- has announced his retirement.

"My career on All My Children has given me more than words could ever convey, both professionally and personally. I have cherished each and every moment. I would like to thank all the fans who have tuned in throughout the years. Their love and support has meant the world to me. I truly feel that I will leave the show in great hands. The viewers will be happy with how Adam departs the canvas and I know that leaving JR (Jacob Young) as head of the Chandler household will continue to provide the show with many great stories to come. This is not the last you've seen of Adam Chandler. I will be back to check up on the Chandler Clan," David said.

David, who also played Adam's gentle twin Stuart, will air through April 2010. Expect to see a scandalous end to his marriage with Annie (Melissa Claire Egan) and a reunion with an ex-wife. Which one? Take a guess -- he's got six of them (that are alive, at least). Look for the aftermath of his departure to leave a fight for power within the Chandler household.

We wish David all the best!

How would YOU like to see Adam bid adieu to Pine Valley?

I think since David is thebest heart doctor ever and he is also Dorian,s friend he should be called in to save stacies baby. also why are all those people who have done so much damage themselves allowed to torment annie and david? please do not let that baby die. Annie was sick at thetime and David did not do anything more then they did. let me see Tad let Doctor Madden die. Jake and Tad should go up on kidnapping charges. Jessie covers up crimes. He should lose his job.everyone should be reveiled.

How about David Canary going to Llanview as the new matriarch of the Buchanan clan?

David Canary is the most competent actor in the entire AMC cast.
His dual roles of Stuart and Adam made the show exciting and ground breaking when I started watching so many years ago.
I always felt like I "knew" him. He has shoes that no one can fill.
I hope he comes back often for guest appearances.
Thanks for the many many memories.

David (aka) Adam will really be missed. He has given us that love, hate relationship with him for oh so long. I loved him as Candy on Bonansa too. It would be great if Adam has to be tested and he saves JR's life so that they stay connected before departs. You deserve your retirement so enjoy but remember you will so be missed.

David you will be sorley missed for both of your roles , I do hope you enjoy in health your most deserved retirement , will be watching for occasional vists from you on all my children.
AMC writer' s I would love to see jr & scott get equal in the company , colby money to start her own business , all three equal parts in the house , annie left out in the cold and out to get revenge on all chandlers.
