David Canary to Retire

David Canary has decided to retireFive-time Daytime Emmy winner David Canary -- who has played manipulative and controlling (but lovable) millionaire Adam Chandler on All My Children since 1983 -- has announced his retirement.

"My career on All My Children has given me more than words could ever convey, both professionally and personally. I have cherished each and every moment. I would like to thank all the fans who have tuned in throughout the years. Their love and support has meant the world to me. I truly feel that I will leave the show in great hands. The viewers will be happy with how Adam departs the canvas and I know that leaving JR (Jacob Young) as head of the Chandler household will continue to provide the show with many great stories to come. This is not the last you've seen of Adam Chandler. I will be back to check up on the Chandler Clan," David said.

David, who also played Adam's gentle twin Stuart, will air through April 2010. Expect to see a scandalous end to his marriage with Annie (Melissa Claire Egan) and a reunion with an ex-wife. Which one? Take a guess -- he's got six of them (that are alive, at least). Look for the aftermath of his departure to leave a fight for power within the Chandler household.

We wish David all the best!

How would YOU like to see Adam bid adieu to Pine Valley?

Wow, David Cananry leaving... I loved him on Bonanza, but it really took me a long time to warm up to him on AMC. But now I can't imagine the show without him. I think the only bigger blow would be for Erica to leave.
I am thinking that the writer's will have Adam's health continue to deteriorate...and strongly suggest a complete change of climate and total reduction of stress. Adam will be forced to retire to Florida and hand over the reins to JR.
I don't know if Adam is gong to go off with Brook, but I know it will be someone we will be happy to see him go off into the sunset with...

I think he has done a great job in his role and will be missed by many. I admire that fact he can remember his lines at his age and the fact he is still working. I would like to see him go out with a happy bang with all of his children.
I am a bit curious about "Sonja". Could this be a "real mother by blood" to JR instead of Dixie?
Annie may try to remain faithful to Adam inspite of her temptation to Scott. However, I think Annie and Adam should end up divorced by mutual agreement. I think JR should keep living in the mansion with his family.
Even though it may be a bit cheezy~Since AMC moved from NY to CA~I would like for the characters make the move on tv from Pine Valley to CA. They wouldn't have to live and work in L.A. they could live and work in places like Orange County like in Newport Beach. They could move their business to the West Coast. Therefore, they could give more BEACH scenes and the Lifestyle on the West Coast.
This way they could also use the beautiful coastline as part of the normal filming.

I WILL MISS YOU A LOT ON AMC AND WISH YOU WERE NOT LEAVING BUT I DO UNDERSTAND WHEN IT IS TIME TO RETIRE
HAVE A HAPPY AND JOYFUL RETIREMENT AND COME BACK AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. AS FAR AS WHO TO LEAVE IN CHARGE OF CHANDLER WHY NOT BROOKE , THEY COULD REMARRY OR ERICA COULD, THEY COULD HELP JR LEARN THE ROPES. I HOPE ANNIE GETS WHAT COMING TO HER.
AGAIN HAPPY RETIREMENT AND GOD BLESS YOU FOR MANY YEARS OF ENJOYMENT, FROM BONANZA TO AMC IT WAS ALL ENJOYABLE

I have watched David Canary ever since he used to appear on Bonanza! He is a great actor and will be sorely missed. I think maybe he and Crystal should ride off into the sunset together.

If you have wanted to travel more, I hope you will enjoy that. AMC will just never be the same without you and we want you to know that. My best wishes to you and your family in your retirement. There is a dvd called healing cancer from the inside out by Michael Anderson. Is it possible that J.R. could find this or perhaps someone suggests h listen to it and be saved. Why is it that no one has discovered all the awful things Ryan did. He should visit Annies doctor and be tesated. I and many peopleI have spoken to think is has a bit of crazines in him.

|I really hate to see David leave. I watched him on Bonanza and All My Children. I hope he makes a lot of returns. What about Palmer? Are you going to have a memorial for him?
