Comings and Goings: Zach Slater Stays Behind

NEW: Enjoy the quiet intensity of Zach Slater while you can folks -- Thorsten Kaye will sadly not be staying on with the show when it makes its big move to L.A. What that means for Zach and Kendall (Alicia Minshew begins her maternity leave in November) remains to be seen. [STORY]
NEW: But as one favorite prepares to leave, it looks like one will return: Rebecca Budig -- last seen when Greelee took a long motorcycle ride to the great beyond (or did she??) -- will return to the show after it relocated to California! No word yet on how Greens returns, but stay tuned! [STORY]
NEW: Also in light of the L.A. move, original cast member Ray MacDonnell (Joe Martin) is choosing to retire rather than relocate. The good news is -- bearing story needs and actor availability -- he may still make occasional appearances as Joe. [STORY]
NEW: While Brianne Moncreif will be leaving AMC in the next few weeks (see below), the character of Colby Chandler will be sticking around. Newcomer actress Natalie Hall has been recast in the role and will begin taping in mid-October. [STORY]

Beth Ehlers, who's played Taylor Thompson on AMC since last July, will be leaving the show before production moves to Los Angeles in December. [STORY]
BethAnn Bonner will be returning to the ABC family of soaps when the former Talia from OLTL hits up Pine Valley as a woman named Kat, who gets tangled up in Aidan, Kendall, and Zach's lives. BethAnn makes her AMC debut on November 6th. [STORY]
Pine Valley's hottie Englishman quotient is about to plummet, as Aiden Turner (Aidan Devane) will be leaving the show later this year. [STORY]

Will miss Zach so much. Good reason to not much TV since Zach will not be there. Sounds like bad news for the continuing of AMC. You will regret not having him and Kendall on AMC.
I'm not only sick about Thorsten Kaye not moving to LA with the show, I'm sick about Aiden being let go. Then Brianne is leaving the show. What is going on? I understand Thorsten not wanting to leave Susan, but I agree with everyone, he and Alicia are the backbone of the show. I've watched the show for over 20 years and am glad about Jessie and Angie being back, but Zack and Kendall ARE THE SHOW!!! I am shocked that Susan Lucci is moving to LA since she has been in NY forever. If she leaves the show, it's over!!!
Man oh man...all you people who are watching the show just for one character?? I too like Zach, but have been watching the show for many years before Zach was around. It sounds like most of you were too - can't imagine he's the only reason you stayed. I certainly can't blame the man for not wanting to truck cross country and uproot family.
Who knows, maybe someday he'll return. And if he doesn't, hopefully another NEW male character can bring dimension to the show.
I know of one male character that has got to go - RYAN. Enough is enough with him. If that whole stupid story line comes back when Greenlee returns, I may be forced to stop watching.
Oh yeah...one thing AMC production will need to be careful of when shooting outdoor scenes - make sure there's no palm trees in the shot - don't think you'll find any of those in Pine Valley, PA

I have to agree with most of the viewers comments I have read here today. Thorsten, you are a God in my book. You have taken a show that I almost gave up and turned it into something I wanted to watch again. You and Alicia are dynamite together. Now, I don't understand the move to LA. Pine Valley is not located in a warm climate and to think we will never see snow on the show again is ludicris. There are so many things that I don't understand. Like why kill Stuart? That was just down right stupid. Is Adam getting to old to play the dual role? It's not like AMC did it often enough in my opinion anyway. I realize that things in life change but it's a soap opera for God's sake. You can make anything happen on TV. So my advice to AMC is to stay located in NY and make your viewers happy. I will give AMC a chance in LA but do not see myself watching for long once Thorsten is gone. You have taken all the good characters out so what are you really left with.
I AGREE IT THAT IT IS CRAZY THAT THORSTEN WILL BE LEAVING THE SHOW HE IS ONE THE MAIN REASONS I WATCH, HE IS A BRILLIANT ACTOR JUST AS HE WAS ON ONE LIFE TO LIVE AS PATRICK THORNHART. I HOPE HE GOES BACK TO OLTL AND GETS PAIRED WITH HIS BELOVED MARTY. I AM GOING TO MISS HIM A LOT HIS CHARACTER ON THE SHOW IS STRONG AND MAGNETIC AND HE PULLS YOU IN TO KEEP WATCHING AND I DO NOT THIS A RECAST WOULD DO. HE IS THE BEST.
Thorsten Kaye and Alicia Minshew are the reason everyone still watches All My Children these two actors should be given the opportunity and a reason not to leave very devasted fans. We love you both and while yes greenlee is coming back she will not last without the friendship of Alicia(kendall) they make each other's characters shine. Please please make it worth their while to stay (zach and kendall) your fans need you there will be no others like you! And no other replacements will do!
Let us all write the president of this show and make a point!

I sure do wish we could influence "whoever" to get Zack to stay. He is the MAIN reason I put up with what has become a pathetic excuse for a show I've watched for more than 30 years.

TK not going to LA is just devastating for me. I cannot imagine my life without Zach Slater & I, for one, will not be watching AMC any longer when Thorsten Kaye has left the bldg. Game over. Please do something quickly to change his mind!
CindyP801. Great minds think alike. I agree with you. Please what's going on? ABC want's to sink AMC at a point of not return like they have money in the budget to move Ryan and not Aidan. Aidan is 10 times better the actor than Ryan will allways be. They should should really do the impossible give Thorsten whatever he wants just to keep our ZENDALL couple alive. If they are loosing most of the cast why the move? I say they should offer thorsten to take wife Susan with him she could continue to do the same as she is in OLTL a psychiasits parter her with Aiden Turner or Thorsten himself.
I hope you are right an another Soap will see the plus side of having such a dynamite couple like Thorstern & Alicia. The chemestry of these two actor's is hard to find. POWER TO THE SOAP THAT WOULD KEEP Z&K TOGETHER.
