Cable TV Vets to "One Life"

Frankie Faison, Tonye Patano, "One Life to Live"The Evans clan -- Dorian's bodyguard Shaun, Matthew's school pal Destiny, and newly-arrived cocky doc Greg -- have really made their mark on "One Life to Live" in the last few months. And now it looks like we'll soon be getting a glimpse at the folks who raised them. Soap Opera Digest reports that Tonye Patano and Frankie Faison have been cast as Phylicia and Richard Evans, mom and pop to the Evans kids.

If Tonye and Frankie's names don't necessarily ring a bell (though in a perfect world, they would), their faces probably do. Tonye has starred in TV shows like "Eli Stone" and movies like "The Savages" (and also played three separate characters on "Law & Order: SVU" -- which, knowing that show, most likely isn't even a record). But Tonye's probably best known for playing drug-dealing maven Heylia James on the first three seasons of "Weeds." And if we had to choose one drug-dealing maven TV character to be our mom, we would totally choose Heylia, because she was awesome.

Frankie, meanwhile, has been a well-recognized character actor for almost 30 years now. He's probably best known for two roles: as the asylum employee who looks out for Clarice Starling in "The Silence of the Lambs"; and as police commissioner Ervin Burrell on HBO's "The Wire."

Tonye and Frankie are set to make their "One Life" debuts on September 10th.

What do you think of the Evanses as an emerging Llanview family?

I AM SO EXCITED THAT THE WRITERS OF OLTL HAS DECIDED TO ADD A ALL AFRICAN AMERICAN FAMILY TO THE CAST. I HAVE BEEN WATCHING SINCE I WAS YOUNGER AND I REMEMBER AA CAST MEMBERS, BUT NOT REALLY A ENTIRE FAMILY. THIS WILL GIVE US A CHANCE TO SEE WHERE SHAUN AND DESTINY GET THEIR DRIVE AND GOOD MANNERS FROM. THANKS OLTL, THIS WILL KEEP ME INTERESTED MORE THAN EVER. I AM FOREVER A FAITHFUL FAN.

I JUST THINK IT'S GREAT. IT'S ALSO ABOUT TIME THAT THEY HAVE A FULL FAMILY. MEANING MOTHER,FATHER, SONS AND DAUGHTER. WAY TO GO OLTL.

Thank you OLTL for bringing an entire African American family back to Llanview. For quite some time now, there have been a few African American faces around town but for a short time. It would be even nicer to have two AA families in town at the same time. IE: Layla & her sister Evangeline or RJ, Hank and Rachel. I hope the Evans family will become permanent residents of LLanview.

Great! I think it will really make the show pop!

Thrilled to hear this! I've always loved the character of Shaun and was already so pleased that OLTL recognized his value enough to give him a family-- an interesting family-- that's being so well integrated into the show. And thrilled that Frankie Faison is playing the patriarch! He's had a long career on the big and little screens, but he's also a Tony-nominated theater actor. Can't wait to see the whole family in action.

I'm afraid I am unfamiliar with Miss Patano's work but I look forward to seeing what she brings to the show. Mr Faison however, I am familiar with. Being a horror fanatic, I really liked him as Barney in the silence of the lambs. and Hannibal. I am looking forward to their arrival.

I think its going to be a really good storyline, i can not wait until they arrive. I do think Destiny's character is cool, she use a little makeover, in my opinion she need a little softer look. She does not have to be this ruff tough girl they have made her out to be. Very good One Life.

I like the story line with the Evans family but I just can't picture Destiny as Shaun and Greg's sister she's so much younger than them. I could see her as their half sister maybe but not their full sister.

I am famiiar with Mr. Faisons' work but not Ms Tonyas' but I am looking forward to see what makes Dr Egghead tick. This has the making of an interesting family and I hope a decent storyline. Way to go OLTL.
