Sure, Billy Abbott and Victoria Newman's relationship on The Young and the Restless pretty much defines the phrase "opposites attract." But as the couple gets closer, there are a few similarities we can't help but see. They're both good parents, they both struggle to please their well-to-do families, and they both LOVE '50s sitcoms -- remember their make-out session during a Father Knows Best marathon?
Tying it all together today, TV Guide reports that Genoa City's hottest star-crossed lovers are making things official in September -- and a Father Knows Best alum will be marrying them! Y&R has cast Elinor Donahue, who played teenager Betty Anderson on the classic series, to officiate Billy and Victoria's wedding.
Y&R co-head writer Scott Hamner told TV Guide: "Relationship and romance is partly about trying to achieve a retro-fantasy of better, simpler times -- bringing Elinor on amps up that homage to the perfect family. We have great admiration for Elinor. She's an iconic part of our collective psyche and it seemed like we couldn't do it without her. We love her!"
In keeping with the days-gone-by theme, the magazine adds that the ceremony will take place on a picket-fenced set, and the bride's dress is inspired by one worn by Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face.
The episode will air on September 8th. Save the date!
What do you think of Y&R's latest casting announcement? And Billy and Victoria's wedding?
