Beth Ehlers to Leave All My Children
Beth Ehlers, who's played Taylor Thompson on All My Children since July 2008, will be leaving the show before production heads to Los Angeles in December of this year.
Beth issued this statement on her departure: "After many conversations with AMC it was mutually decided that I would no longer play the role of Lt. Taylor Thompson and would not relocate my family to the West Coast. I was very proud to give a voice to Lt. Taylor Thompson and hope I conveyed the courage, sacrifice, and fortitude of the brave members of our military and their families. To my new friends and colleagues I met at All My Children and ABC during these past 18 months, I wish you much love and continued success. And lastly, a big hug to my fans! I'll see you soon!"
ABC followed up by saying "Ms. Ehlers is a talented actress and we wish her well."
Prior to joining AMC, Beth played Harley Cooper on Guiding Light from 1987-1993 and then from 1997-2008.

I never watched GL, however, AMC did NOT seem to know what to do with this experienced soap actress...pairing her with one person, then another....etc, then dropping it completely! I thought their best shot was when she was with Tad for a mili second......Michael Knight has chemistry with almost ANYONE.....I think they missed the boat and a lot of old Guiding Light fans too by not using Miss Ehlers properly. All my posts here are negative, and I do hate that they are. What DO I still like about AMC after watching since 1973? Well, Zach & Kendall, but you know how that is going to turn out, Aidan Turner is being let go. I know a LOT of people do not like Annie, but I am rooting for her. When Greenlee comes back, I hope her and Annie team up and give Mr. Lavery a good old 3 iron!
I was a Guiding Light fan for many years. I was also a fan f All My Children from way back. Loved Harley , loved Taylor. That being said, I also used to watch General Hospital back in the Luke/Laura heyday. Quit watching due to conflicts with Guiding Light. Now that Light is out I may start watching General again. So I think Beth should move to that soap. also since the Devanes originated on General Hospital I think Aiden should go there too. I think him and Beth would make a good couple on there.She used to be a bad girl on Light and he is a bad boy so there you go. My opinion :)
It took me a while to realize Beth was gone from AMC as actors are always off on maternity or vacation, etc. I just stopped to really watch the photos at the
beginning of AMC and realized she wasn't there. I wasn't happy with her recent story line and was waiting for things to heat up with Tad. Now she's gone! She was my favorite character on Guiding Light for years and though I am still grieving the loss of that show, at least I could still see her work on AMC, especially with Ricky Golden (spelling? sorry). If it is to stay in NY, I understand, but boy there have been too many TV losses lately and this one is sad for me. I hope she shows up somewhere else, because she's too good of an actor to not be working. I wish her the best and thank her for years of great performances.

This constant going back and forth is STUPID. In the real world no one would consider going back wards this many times.
I only starting watching amc because of Beth Ehlers. Now with her leaving and Guildinglight off I won"t be watching soaps.
Won't miss Beth Ehlers one iota. Nothing personal, I just did not like the character of Taylor from day one. When she first showed up in town she was trying to hard to be the tough gal Army Lt and it turned me off completely. She played it to harshly, as if women in the military have to be all hard and tough, not reality at all. Women still have their feminine side, even when in the military, and especially when they are not in active duty. Then they tried to hard to force pairings with all the eligible bachelors on the show and none of them clicked. AMC needs to get back to basics, back to the core characters and families on the show. They can't constantly introduce new characters, give them the lions share of the screen time and expect the audience to instantly connect. It doesn't work that way. As for Rebecca Budig, I wish she'd just stay gone. She's annoying, as is her character of Greenlee.
harley, i watched you grow up on the guiding light, and was surprised to see you on amc. good luck. maybe i will see you in some other soap.you were one of my favorites.
I think Beth is a great actress. I watched her as Harley on Guiding Light. I do hope to see you on another show soon. I would like to see her written out of the show, by way of meeting some handsom guy, that sweeps her off her feet and moving away to another state
iam sorry to see Beth Ehlers go..but being honest she was a very boring character who had no point to the show..her romance to Tad Martin was over before it even started..she was on the show for a over a year and still has no presence in her character she is like a boring person...once again iam sorry to see her go...i wish her the best of luck!!
It's a shame - I liked her with Tad... But I know I would never leave NYC for LaLaLand....
