New mom Ashlee heads to "Melrose Place."

"Melrose Place" casting is on in earnest! The latest news? Entertainment Weekly reports that Ashlee Simpson-Wentz will be coming on board as small-town sexpot Violet.

Ashlee, who's probably best known for her singing lip-synching, family ties, and recent entry into the worlds of marriage and motherhood spent two seasons on "7th Heaven" back in the early aughts.

Twenty-four-year-old Ashlee's husband, Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, spent some time on a CW series himself -- you may remember he dated Peyton for a few episodes of "One Tree Hill."

Meanwhile, EW adds that things are "looking good" for Heather Locklear to come back to "Melrose" as Amanda Woodward, and Mischa Barton is still a possibility -- as either medical student Lauren or teacher Riley.
