The Daytime Emmy countdown continues with the news that Cameron Mathison (Ryan Lavery on "All My Children") and Sherri Shepherd (Emmy nominated co-host of "The View") will be handling hosting duties this year.
On the naming of the hosts, Brian Frons, President, Daytime, Disney-ABC Television Group said, "Cameron and Sherri both have such an inviting way about them. Viewers will feel like they are in the Kodak and part of the excitement and enthusiasm surrounding this year's broadcast. They bring the perfect vibe to the celebratory atmosphere of this show."
Frons really means it when he says "celebratory": The awards this year will be done Golden Globes style, with everyone sitting at tables instead of the traditional row-by-row seating. Which should give the event a more spontaneous and unpredictable vibe. How awesome would it be if someone won the award and they were in the bathroom, like Christine Lahti at the Golden Globes a few years ago? Remember that?
Personally, we think Cameron and Sherri are good choices. Cameron's perfected his hosting duties with "I Wanna Be a Soap Star" and the upcoming TLC game show "Your Place or Mine" and guest stints on "Extra." Sherri already does the hosting thing every day on "The View." We kind of can't wait for her commentary. How fun would it be just to get her thoughts on all the different storylines?
Mark your calendars: The Daytime Emmy Awards will air LIVE on Friday, June 20 from the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles at 8 pm ET/PT. Okay, so the west coast won't be live because of a tape delay, but if you're in California, you can get the live experience by attending the show in person! Tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster and the Kodak Theatre Box Office.
Do you think Sherri and Cameron are good choices for hosts?
