All My Children Week in Review: Week of February 7, 2011

Funniest Moment: Pine Valley wasn’t exactly a barrel of laughs this week, but that the handcuffs Annie used to link Colby to a table were FUZZY was kind of awesome.

WTH? Moment: David’s gonna avoid jail again!? How does he do it? In this case, when you have the power of Erica Kane and her connections to the Governor, you can do anything. But this guy HAS to get some punishment doled out, right?

Best Moment: We love a catfight, and this week we got Annie vs. Marissa. In an attic. We’re glad that Annie has upped her crazy ratio, because it’s really let Sarah Glendenning step up and shine as a take-no-prisoners Marissa.

Performer of the Week: Walt Willey as Jackson. Always a dependable performer, Walt shined playing Jack’s frustration with Erica – especially after he found out she engineered David’s eventual release from custody. Walt’s able to play that fine balance with Jackson of total love and devotion to Erica, matched with total frustration with her. Is it weird that we love when they fight as much as when they are happy?

Why We Love All My Children This Week: Because it’s All My Children! Watching Susan Lucci, Michael E. Knight, Debbi Morgan and Darnell Williams on The Oprah Winfrey Show reminded us of just how awesome they are. The vintage clips reminded us of all the reasons why we fell in love with AMC - the humor, the romance, the couples, the stories. So we’re just basking in overall AMC love. Did you guys see Oprah? What did you think?

What were your highlights (and lowlights) of this week?

I haven't watched AMC since the day Kendall had her dream of Zach. But i do read about it and from what I am reading Zach has a pretty decent storyline going right now. Sometimes I get butterflies thinking that AMC has every intention of bring back the one and only Thorsten Kaye, but I know they are not that smart. I even think they are keeping him away from us out of spite!!

But a fantastic storyline would be for Kendall to start to feel Zach and be determined to find out what happened to him. And along the way find HIM!!

That would bring me and many, many others back to AMC!!

I really liked a lot of this week.

I'm intrigued by Kendall's story - I love that she's got men pursuing her even while she's totally oblivious to it! I know she's not ready to move on, but I'm really anxious to see her do something other than be miserable. Girl deserves some happy!

JR actually seems like he's grown up, finally. He seemed to 'get' that it was his fault that Annie has lost it!

I don't care if Ryan and Greenlee get married.

And I thought Jack was a jerk. Was Erica supposed to let Kendall die so Greenlee could have a happy wedding day? His priorities suck.

WW/SL rocked in their scenes but like the others, I hate the story and the C/K interference. The idea of Jack with that Miranda napper is enough to make mer stop watching. If they want to sell KWAK with someone than they should have put her with Cooney where they could start from the beginning and no bad history. The Jerica fans will have her for dinner and I'll be one of them if she goes near him.

Since Madison wanted to keep this pregnacy from Ryan, I hope that he's not the father, because of a vesectomy. It would blow everyone's mind that Frankie is the father. It's time that Ryan and Greenlee can be happy and have some peace in thier lives now!!!!. Also, Erica doesn't deserve Jack because he's a good man, now it would be nice if Jack and Krystal got together, that would really make Erica mad... Now with Annie she also needs to be happy and JR can give it to her, stop making her crazy. Leave Jake and Amanda alone, have Cara go and get her another man and let Jake and Amanda be happy with their family and it would be nice if they have another baby. So, hopefully the writers have listen and have Frankie as the father not Ryan.

I am tired of Kendall being in the hospital and sick. I want to see Kendall start looking into Zach' death that leads her to finding her soulmate alive so we can see a reunion between Zach and Kendall. Please bring back your lead actor Thorsten Kaye.

I agree with all that this Kendall being a sick damsel in constant distress has got to stop. If the BOYS on the show want to get her attention, let them earn it like Zach did by getting to know who Kendall really is..... a feisty, strong, independent, loving woman, who is grieving the loss of the only man who loved her unconditionally and took time to gain her trust and love. I know that will take depth in character development and writing, which these writers obviously are not capable of. All they know is how to create stupidly contrived scenarios using Kendall's health as the s/l vehicle. This demeans the character's integrity and long history and insults the audience in the process.

The Jerica wedding was a pleasure to watch, bringing us back to when the show moved at at a slower pace and audiences did get their payoff at the end of a s/l cycle. It was also the beginning of Zendall, the super couple of call time on the show. Zendall fans desperately need a payoff right now for staying faithful to a show dead last in the ratings. They need for Kendall to begin her search for Zach, ending with his return to claim his family from immature interlopers and pretenders.

Watching a replay of OLTL just reminded me how much I miss Thorsten Kaye and how much I want him back as Zach Slater. I appreciate all the references to Zach on the show presently, but they better not be to fool the audience into hoping and thus watching. That might work for a while, but any attempt to hook Kendall up at warp speed with some worthless interloper is going to cause a backlash such as TPTB have not seen in the show's long history.

Enough of Kendall being sick. Get her back to normal and looking for her husband.
As for Erika it is time that she made up her mind who the hell she wants. She cant have both men in her life.
Greenlee needs to come back to reality. REally trying to hide the fact that Madison is pregnant. Not too bright of her.
And also leave Jake alone. He is happy with his wife. Why bring in the other one. Let her find someone else like maybe Tad. lol
And will you stop already with making Annie to be so crazy? She deserves to be happy too.

I love WW and when he gets a chance to shine he rocks! I am a huge Jerica fan and I am very disappointed that once again we get our couple trashed for two losers like Cooney and Carey. UGH! Can't stand either one. Erica would never be interested in Cooney and no way would Jack be romantic with the tramp who stole Miranda and kept her from him and their family for almost a year. It's an insult to the viewers, Jack, and J/E fans to even attempt it.

ITA about WW being the performer of the week. He's been doing some great work but ITA with Amanda about hating this story. After seeing their wedding again today, they had established them as the last supercouple from AMC's glory days. Theiy built the familyl that should have been AMC's cire for years. How can they think we'll want Erica with Caleb or Jack with KWAK? No way.

Sat, Feb 12 - 1:17 am

I enjoyed the repeat episode of Jack and Erica's wedding. It was a reminder that once upon a time soaps actually did give their couples and their fans the payoff they so richly deserved. Those episodes in Boca also marked the beginning of AMC's supercouple, Zach and Kendall, and the most riveting and remarkable love story in decades. It is my hope that Zach and Kendall and their fans will soon get the payoff they've waited so long for, and that Thorsten Kaye's Zach will return to Pine Valley and his beloved wife. Couples like these only come around once in a lifetime. There's no formula to duplicate what only true chemistry can create, and the rest of this week's episodes only proved, once again, that no pale imitation will do.
