All My Children: Week in Review for February 21, 2011

Wendie Malick, Susan Lucci, Erica Kane, All My ChildrenWhen it comes to looking back on the best, craziest, most dramatic moments on All My Children this week, we know what we think. But what we really want to know is what YOU think? What were your picks for this week's funniest moment? Or best performer? We've got some talking points to get you all started, but give us your own picks in the comments below!

Funniest Moment: Wendie Malick vs. Susan Lucci. They were awesome on Hot in Cleveland and equally awesome here. Also -- Wendie's character was named Gertie Stein!?

WTH? Moment: What's up with Ricky "I'm not a minister, I'm really evil" Torres whipping up a fake letter from Zach and then printing it in the span of like 30 seconds? That guy is efficient -- if he wasn't so busy killing people, he'd be great in an office.

Performer of the week: Michael E. Knight as Tad Martin. Because he's Michael E. Knight, and between faking an engagement with Cara and justifying it to Opal, Krystal, and (kinda-sorta) Liza, he was front and center and we love him. Close second is Jamie Luner, who actually made us feel bad for Liza as she admitted to Colby that she slept with her boyfriend. Boy, can she cry!

Best Moment: Amanda 'fessing up that she called the Feds on Cara. Juicy stuff.

Why We Love All My Children This Week: Madison and Scott are poor! They struggle to pay the rent and pay for hospital bills (so much so that they've signed up for a sleep study ... huh?). Anyway, as much as we love the wheeling and dealing that Erica, JR, Ryan and others do, it's refreshing to see some Pine Valleyites facing issues that many of us at home struggle with.

So let's hear YOUR favorite AMC moments this week!

I am so sick of this show!!, It's always the same drama!! constantly, comon" you people, can't you writers come up with anything better!! So, so sick of Ryan always looking for his daughter and Annie!! Heard she's leaving, i dunno?!! Get rid of Ryan, yeck!! Greenlee slops around like a sick puppy dog around him, boring!!! But I have to say, nice to see Colby finally having a breakdown, make it good!!! Make Lisa be pregnant with Damons child !!! Please do something with Amanda;s character, there is one lifeless person!!!!!, and for Gods Sake, please lets get on with Kendall, we know who killed Zach, let's get on with it so she can be with Griffin!!!!, i'm really loosing iterest in this show, i'm soo in love with OLTL and GH!!!!!

WTH Moment: Jake and Amanda were conversing in the hospital and then the scene broke away to Tad's house. Between the time Jake and Amanda finished one sentence and then continued with the same topic during the same conversation, Cara managed to say good-bye to Tad, get to the hospital, change from civvies into her scrubs, grab a patient's chart, find where Jake and Amanda were talking, and lurk behind a corner to listen to the next sentence of their conversation. Even Wonder Woman was never that fast!

WTH Moment: OK not only was the letter typed and printed waaaaayyyy too fast, but wouldn't Kendall find it odd that she found the page folded neatly under a couch cushion? On the floor under the couch, OK that's a little believable. Maybe even between the cushions.. But neatly folded under a cushion? I don't think so.

Just wondering why there's no shot of Amanda individually (just included in Jake's) in the intro video clip? We found out others who were absent were leaving - what about Amanda / Krishell?

My favorite moment was hearing Kendall read Zach's letter with references to their life together as a family, however these writers have no knowledge of who Kendall is. There is no way that Kendall would have read such private words from Zach to a stranger...in this case Rickey. Also there is no way that Zach would have typed his last letter to Kendall. He would have hand written it and kept it in a safe place like a safety deposit box, not taken it with him on the plane. The writing continues to be totally plot driven with no regard to character integrity or history and thus insults the intelligence of the audience.
Bring back Thorsten Kaye as Zach Slater. His presence on the screen will at least make the show bearable to watch, even with this terrible writing. TK and AM together have always been able to go beyond the scripts to give their audience magical performances.

Zach and Kendall Slater's connection is continually showcased with frequent mentions of Zendall and their special phrases. I am hopeful that an arrangement was reached with Thorsten Kaye. Kendall investigating her husband's "death," preferably with the assistance of Tad or Jesse, leading to the discovery of Zach alive. That is the happy ending I want to see. Please bring Mr. Kaye back to the show!

Strange how the biggest WTH moment (Ricky with his magic cell phone/typing machine) came in the midst of my favorite moments: Kendall reading Zach's words to her, reminding her to watch the Red Wings and when she goes to bed to imagine his arms around her. Even in "death" there's no end to the Zendall romance. I hope Zach comes home soon. I miss him tremendously. Every mention just reminds me how inadequate all others are when it comes to holding Kendall's heart.

While Kendall would have never read a personal letter from her husband to two strangers, I appreciated the "Always Only You" references! Please bring back Thorsten Kaye as Zach Slater, reuniting the Slater family!
