All My Children Names New Head Writers

Donna began her career working on All My Children as a program executive. She worked closely with Agnes Nixon, the show's creator (and head writer at the time), with firsthand involvement in the crafting of stories about then-new characters like Jesse and Angie Hubbard, as well as some classic Erica tales. Donna went on to serve as head writer for Another World from 1988-1992. In 1997, she joined the writing team of Guiding Light. In 2004, she joined David as co-head writer of the show. Other writing credits include Port Charles and The Bold and the Beautiful.

Said Donna: "Working with Agnes Nixon was a highlight of my career. My first job in soaps was as Director of Daytime at ABC. I was assigned to, among other soaps, AMC. I remember sitting next to Agnes in meetings and marveling at how she always went right to the heart of scenes. How she brilliantly crafted the dreamers, the strivers, the connivers, the heroes -- so that we loved everyone of them. At times, Pine Valley was more real to me than Manhattan. I was lucky to learn how to tell story at the feet of a true Master".

The head writing duties of All My Children have been vacant since Chuck Pratt exited the role in November of 2009.

A new head writing regime is not the only change the show has undergone lately. The cast JUST started taping in Los Angeles. To see which cast members made the move, visit our gallery here.

I think David and Donna do a bang up job. Really terrific. A friend of mine and I have been watching for more than 20 years and we are so impressed with the writers. She has since moved but we talk a few times a week and we always remark on how well the story lines are. Keep up the good work. We of course also try to guess what is going to happen next and guess what, we are usually wrong so that means your doing a great job.

I would really like to see Jesse and Angie address the underlying problems In their marriage and come to some solutions. I would also like to see Jesse written more like the real Jesse and not this stranger we have been seeing over the last year. I would like to see Frankie and Randi get that baby they were denied last summer and for them to finally have some happiness for a change! They have gone through quite enough! I would like to also learn about Randi's back story and what drove her to choose a life of prostitution.

I would just like to help Erica Cain in her campaign to help the ones that really need it. I am in college, but I have been a writer since first grade and have the best campane idea for Fusion. I named my daughter after her first advertisment of Enchantment and so as you see my daughter's name is Enchantment and I am a devoted fan and very commited to All my children and woul;d like to help in any way that I can. I'd like to see Frankie and Madison get together. Bring in an age appropriate love interest for Erica. I'd like to see Ryan and Greenlee have a sincere lasting love affair, with children. Erica and Greenlee have words - but no fighting they are both too old er mature to fight with food or pulling hair, just a real good face to face toe to toe vicious argument. I like Tad and Liza I also like Jake and Amanda. I prefer the serious side of Jake I don't like his jokes or sense of humor. Angie and Jessie are a definite go ... I like to see more of them in steamier roles. AMC needs more men, bringing Julia Barr and Caty back is good. I like David and his nefarious antics. I like Adam and his ruthlessness. I am sic of Scott, Marissa and JR ... very boring trio. I'd like Anne to teeter on the psycho side a bit more

Can't Jack and Erica try again? I couldn't believe how easy they gave up after all their years together. Come on, try agian and stick with it you two! Erica and Ryan is creepy.
How about a "reformed" Annie, then Ryan can try to get her back for Emma's sake. What's to become of David? He may as well hook up with nurse Gail and open a free clinic to redeem himself. Tad and Liza, what fun!

I was just starting to get comfortable with Brianne as Colby when they brought in this new broad. She's awful. Brianne was growing into the part.

As to Amanda - she and Jake are delicious together. I wasn't all that enthralled when Ricky came over to the show but he has grown on me and then some! He's an adorable little devil, that's for sure. And someone he has imbued Jake with some "Tadness" that makes it easy to believe those two characters are brothers.

Now, let's talk about the delightful and hilarious pairing of Tad and Liza. The scenes on Friday were an absolute hoot. Two terrific actors working at the top of their games. Really good chemistry.

The Adam/Annie storyline is tedious and boorrrrrrrrriiiiiiiing. Ryan with Erica makes me want to hurl. We need Kendall and Zack back. Offer the dude some serious coin AMC - get him BACK!

"it's about time" The triangle of AMANDA, JAKE & DAVID
WAS GETTING STALE. LEAVE THEM ALONE WHY DON'T YOU
The "new" colby is starting to behave like the character she is
trying to take down.

Best of luck to the new co-head writers. The change is long overdue. I have been watching AMC on and off for over 30 years, but was about to stop watching because the story lines were pretty bad. Would love to see Marissa gone and JR with someone more exciting. The Marissa character is sooooo boring! Less Amanda would be good as well.

Thankfully, the pace of the stories has picked up the past couple weeks. It used to be, if you missed a month of episodes, you still didn't miss much. Now excitement is happening every day...and all the major surprises don't have to wait for Mondays. I hope we're done with those repetitive, cerebral conversations that ocurred over and over again without moving the plot. Kudos to the new writers, if they're responsible!
